DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE AFRAID TO BE OFFENDED BY MY "SECOND SEASON OF ANIME CRAZE IS A NO-NO" RANT.

Okay, first we have the Fruits Basket craze..."Wheee~ I want a second season of the Fruits basket anime~! I want it sooooo much!" Next we have the Ouran High School Host Club craze..." Make a second season, please~! It would be soooo coool~!" Next we have Gakuen Alice..."They need to make a second season~ It would be so wonderful~" The list can go on and on, but I just decided to use these examples.

Have you even stopped to think about what you're asking for?

Think about how long a regular season of an anime is. It can be anywhere from 18-26 episodes, right? That usually covers 6-7 manga volumes, if the story is followed pretty accurately. Then stop to think about how long the manga is. *using my examples*

Fruits Basket: 23 volumes

Gakuen Alice: 83 chapters (14 volume and ongoing, in other words, NOT EVEN FINISHED)

Ouran High School Host Club: 53 chapters (11 volumes and ongoing)

For a second season of Furuba, that would cover volumes 8-14. For Gakuen Alice, a second season would be volumes 6-12. For Ouran, that would be volumes 6 (or 7)-12 (and it's not even there yet). 

I'm not saying that fans who wish for these things want them right away, but it annoys me when they say "I want a second season now!" or "I wish they would just hurry up and make a second season."  For Fruits Basket, they want a second season, but what would the climax of the season be? What happens around volumes 14 or 15 that would be suitable? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They would have to make up one. Or they could skip a few volumes and go to the climax of the manga as the climax of the second season (which remind you, would only be 26 episodes long). That would suck...BIG TIME. Every moment is crucial to the plot and to skip volumes would only upset dedicated fans. To prevent such a thing, the anime creators would have to make a third season too. See?

Same thing with the other two examples. Gakuen Alice is fine with ending the second season at volume 12's end. However...the really good part just started in volume 14. They would have to make a third season to bring everything together to make one final ending to the anime. Ouran High School Host Club...is not even ready for a second season yet. Maybe in the future, but not yet.

Instead of fans pleading for a second season, they should want a couple more seasons depending on how long the manga is. " I want them to make a second and third season!!!!!"
