ANN is reporting that as part of their deal in dubbing Appleseed Ex Machina for WB, Warner Brothers will be showing Makoto Shinkai's 5 cm per Second to showings, and will also be showing the first episodes of Devil May Cry and Tokyo Maijin. It looks like those 250 screens will be getting an anime smorgasbourg......

Meanwhile they also linked to news that Odex is using Singapore law to sue and fine people downloading works they've licesned. Odex is best known to domestic fans as a dubbing studio and DVD authoring company [working mostly with Bandai and Geneon on works like Fantastic Children], but also distribute works on DVD and VCD in Asia for many anime companies. The fines may seem harsh, but it's within Odex's rights, and I imagine we'd see more domestic companies doing similar things if theyr had the time/resources to do so. Downloading can hurt the industry a good deal folks. Mind you, it's oddly funny to read this :)  I'm particularly amused by the fact that  "Odex has been asking parents to discuss their children's behavior with its representatives"

 Bandai is releasing the oneshot Mave-Chan OVA on DVD, dubbed/subbed for 9.98! It's a spinoff of the popular YukiKaze OVA series from Gonzo.
