It's a good indicator that ADV likely has the title, which they said they would "look into" should AIR do well.

I watched the 2nd episode of Witchblade, which was included with the 2nd issue of Otaku USA on their packin dvd. The animation was fairly smooth, though quite cheesecakey, with a bit of influence from Go Nagai in both the violence and in the slightly over the top joy with which the Witchblade takes on her enemies. The series features the same scantilly clad costume the comic is known for, so Gonzo does go for a certain angle. You've been warned. Still, the show offers a decent adaption of the Witchblade concept, taking Top Cow's ideas and applying them to a future reality, as young single mother Masane finds herself in a mysterious web of companies and individuals who seeks to use the Witchblade for their own reasons. Masane's role as a mother is also a little refreshing, providing us a lead who isn't a dopey teenager, with actual responsibilties to deal with outside of crushes or "being the best _______ ever". Given there's been many wielders of the Blade [and Sara Pezzini did have a live actionTV series], creating a new cast works well, and this should appeal to fans of action anime with female leads.
