Twilyte Time (2)
Gena came awake and sprang up to a sitting position. She looked around in panic and it took her a minute before she realized that she was no longer in the bushes. The pain rushed over her making her bend over and then lay back down. Her ribs and chest began to pulse again as the pain kept a steady pace with each breath. She could feel her breathing become shallow, as she tried not adjusting her breathing so the pain in her side and ribs would stop hurting so much.

"Ow.." She muttered almost in tears. "Where am I?"

"Your safe." An elderly woman's voice said softly. "Now stop moving and speaking so your wounds can heal. It will be a while before you can get out of bed."

   "But.." Gena tried to mutter.

"Don't talk or your lungs and ribs will not get better." The woman said. "I will explain everything I know in a bit, but for now I want you to just sit there and rest."

Gena tried to focus on controlling her breathing and lying still as the woman worked around her changing bandages on her body. She could hear the crackling of a fire and seemed to calm her a little bit as she felt the old woman work on her right leg. The pain seemed to fade away as she felt her self lose consciousness again and then everything again went blank.

Gena felt like only a few minutes before she once again was awake. Though this time much of the pain that she had felt earlier was gone. She was alert enough not to try to sit up, but she could tell she was better by the fact that she didn't hurt anymore when she breathed. She moved her head and saw that she was now alone. The old woman that was there the first time was nowhere to be seen.
She slowly moved her neck to look around, and realized that she was still soar, but that was to be expected she thought. She used her arm to try to steady her self and she lifted her self up to a sitting position and grimaced as she could feel the stiffness in her joints. She slid her legs over the side of the bed and felt them thud as her feet hit the floor a little harder then she intended.

"Where am I?" Gena muttered to herself.

"It seems like your better." An elderly man's voice commented from behind her. "I am glad that you finally woke up again."

"Where am I?" Gena repeated now a little more forcefully. "I don't remember what happened."

"That is probably for the best." The old man said.  "Though you don't have to worry here. You are safe."

"How long have I been asleep?" Gena asked.

"Well it has been about a week that you have been unconscious." The man said softly. "Though don't overexert your self right now. Let your body work out the kinks before you put to much stress on it."

"Who are you?" She asked suddenly. "I don't really remember much, but I wish to know who I need to thank for saving me."

"My name is Goshen." The old man said. "I am sort of the handy man of this village, and the one that took care of you is my wife Kara."

"Village?" Gena asked. "I didn't know there was a village up in the mountains. I was told it was just wilderness."

"You will understand it more in time." Goshen said. "Not to many people visit here so when you came it caused some commotion, but everything is all right. We are always try to help those in need if we can."

    "Thank you." Gena said softly.

"It's ok." Goshen said with a cheerful tone. "Why don't we get you some food. It will help your recovery."

"I am," Gena said abruptly as her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "Thank you again."

Gena slowly put pressure on her legs and was surprised to be able to stand and walk. She felt a little off balanced, but she was able to make it over to the table and have a seat. She looked up to see Goshen bring her a bowl of what looked like a type of stew. She eyed the stew as the hunger began to grow with the aroma that filled the area around the bowl. She took a spoon and slowly dipped it in the bowl and then blew on it to cool it before finally taking a bite.

"This is wonderful." Gena muttered to her self.

"Have as much as you want." Goshen said as he placed the pot of stew and added a plate of bread to the table. "Eat now and then we will talk some more. I will go let the others know that you have awoken. I will be back in a few minutes."

Gena nodded as she lost her self in the meal. The stew was so good and she was so much hungrier then she thought. She finished the first bowl and then got some more for the pot in front of her. She felt a rush of energy start to come back to her as she ate. She had finished three bowls and half the plate of bread before she sat back in the chair and relaxed. She was only starting to get small flashbacks of what happened to her, but at the moment she was content at just being there.
