Meaningless Rambling
I've been reading manga for quite a few years now, every time I stopped by a Barns & Noble I'd pick up something new. (Yeah, I was obsessed with "Love Hina" when I was 15; I sold the entire series to a friend for $100 a few months back). The only thing that bothered me when I found some new series to get attached to was that I would get half-way through the story and find myself not liking the story anymore. Everything was cool in the beginning and then suddenly it starts to go downhill from there - everything begins to fall apart, more and more; spiraling into a black pit of despair. Did you skip to that sentence just because it was bolded? I hope so. I doubt anyone is reading this all the way through. Well anyways - people frown upon others for reading books off the shelves at bookstores, but for me that's the only way to see if something is worth getting into.
Long story short, I appreciate the online mangas that TokoPop offers now; even though so far it's select titles, I can at least formulate a list of what I want for the next pilgrimage to the bookstore.
Oh yeah, note to everyone: Please don't get awkwardly close to others when you're grabbing something on the shelf and then just stand there next to them

Well, I like to pay attention to not only the story, but the art. I like to look at the fine details. I usually don't pick up a manga book unless I know the author/illustrator is good at doing backgrounds and not just people. Hiro Mashima for one thing, is amazing. The detail he puts into everything just seems impossible. Of course, with novels I'm even pickier.
