Majikku (Part 6)

"Hey guys!" Kari greeted as they caught up.

Karu did a short jump-thing on Riku and made her laugh as he hugged her. "Hello, Karu-san. And Kaji-san and Ryoma-san," Riku greeted brightly. She blushed at the sight of all three princes--Karu already having blown his cover in front of her one day in class when he took out his mahoe-sidekick and made the teacher spill coffee all over the pop quizzes he was going to give that day in class. "How are you?"

"Much better now that my hime-san is back," Ryoma teased, planting a kiss on Kari. "The better question is how is my hime-san doing?"

Then Kari laughed and walked away. She seemed intent on a place past their vision. It was then that Kaji noticed--the Naido Club! Spring sign-ups were already up. he walked in the same direction with her and Ryoma followed behind.

As Kari signed up for girls' tennis, Ryoma signed up for men's tennis and Kaji signed up for men's baseball. Riku just looked at them with her head cocked to the side. Karu came up and stood next to her.

"You know who I am, don't you?" he asked her, making her jump. "Majikku? Prince of the South--"

Riku sighed. "Yes, I know. And now I'll have to assume you know that I'm from the Magic World as well?" She saw him nod in her peripheral vision and she sighed again. "So what's going to change? In the laws of Majikku, when two mahoe-beings meet in the Human World, one or both must lose the memories of this world unless a third or even fourth party will lose their memories instead."

The two looked at Ryoma and Kaji. "You know nothing will ever be the same again? I have to do it to them--it's been my job to do so for several years now and I kept pushing it off. Now that you're here I have to. And I have to modify your memories too. Do you understand?"

Riku nodded and walked towards them. "Ryoma-san, Kaji-san? Karu-san has to talk to us alone. Kari-chan, we'll just be a minute. I promise." Riku started to wonder what the lilac-blue ball was she saw inside of Kari, but shook it off. Maybe it was nothing and she was hallucinating. "Come on."

Kari shrugged it off and went inside the school to class as they all disappeared to somewhere around the school bushes in the front of the building. As she walked up the steps, she saw a flash of bright white light, but shrugged it off and assumed it was a picture.

"Are you okay now, Kari-san?" Rodai-sensei asked her as Kari walked into the fifth-period class with a hand over her torso. "You did have quite a time in the past week or so. maybe you should take it easy."

"No!" she yelled, surprising herself with the outburst. "Gomen. I just want things to get back to normal as fast as possible.

Rodai-sensei smiled as he watched kari take her seat next to Kaji. Two brilliant students right next to each other and yet no spark. There used to be a spark of competition there, but today Kaji just seemed distant and somewhat confused. Like he was unaware of the world around him.

Riku sighed as she walked into the class as well, sneaking her mahoe-sidekick out and texting her grandfather about the majikku-balls she was supposed to find. She looked at the container in the device and sighed at the fact that it was completely empty. Her grandfatehr would not be happy.

"All right! today's lesson in English is going to be harder than normal, but we can get through it with...what word, Kaji? In English?"

"Discipline?" he answered.

Kari's hand raised up. "Perseverence?" she asked, correcting him with a squint. Since when did he mess up?

Well, now he didn't remeber anything that had to do with majikku and the Magic World. he didn't even remember how he knew the girl sitting next to him and how she was like a glass figure you weren'tallowed to touch. She was something even he now admired--not remembering the consequences of liking someone, or someone liking him.

"Hey, Kari? I have something I have to say to you alone," karu told her as they walked with riku on their way back home. Riku got the meaning and left them as she walked towards her house.

"Kari, just come over later, okay? I still have some really cool tricks to show you," Riku replied as she left.

Karu sighed when he realized he'd have to leave teh bit of majikku-information about Riku in her. Were they all trying to make it hard for him to do this procedure on her to save them all from possible doom?
