Babysitting FullMetal Chapter Three

Sara opened her eyes, and screamed. She as in a bed, but how was that possible? The last thing she remembers was sitting up against a wall with Ed and Al wating for Roy to wa---wait a minute! She couldn't be in Roy's bed, could she? She hoped that there was no one next to her, and if there had to be someone next to her, but, of all people, she did not want it to be Roy. Sara slowly turned over to her left side with her eyes closed, then very very slowly, she started to open her eyes.

Uh oh, there was a figure laying next to her, but the blankets were over top of the figure, the only thing that you could see was a bit of black hair.

"Please, oh please don't let it be Roy," Sara whispered to herself "Anybody but Roy! Hughes, or even Fuery, just please not Roy."

Sara took her hand and removed the blanket a bit, then she saw who it was.

"Oh damn!" Sara said to herself "Roy is in a bed with me, and I have no clue what happened...not good."

Sara didn't know what to do, she was really scared, while as she wanted to get out of their as soon as possible. So, she finally rushed out of the bed, and walked to the other side of the bed, where Roy was. Wait! What was she doing?

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN THE SAME BED AS ME?!” she yelled, very loudly I might add.

Roy just turned over and said “I was cold, and you are… so warm. Warm and soft.”

Sara was slightly disturbed by what she had heard, and shivered at the thought of how she thought he meant it. She just hurried and looked for the exit out of this living nightmare. She found the door and ran out of there as soon as she could. Halfway out of the door, she was stopped by, who else, Edward and his brother Al.

 “Are we interrupting?” Ed snickered.

“Oh shut up.” Sara retorted. “How did I end up in there?”

 “Well…” Ed had started.

“Wait, nevermind.” She stopped him. “I don’t want to know, might give me nightmares.”

She pushed past Ed and Al and headed for her own hotel room. When she got to it, she realized she had gone in a circle! She opened the door and saw Roy sleeping in her bed! Roy had slept in HER bed. In HER room. With HER.

"God, please kill me now." She moaned.

She pulled the blankets off of the bed and threw them on the floor. Man was she mad. She could've taken the mattress out from under him if she wanted to. She grabbed his arm, and tried to pull him out of the bed. She must've pulled to hard, because he went flying back onto her.

"How does this always seem to happen?" She said in a very annoyed tone.

"It must be fate," He said still half asleep, "we were made for each other."

"You know you want Riza, not me, or anyone else. Riza." She said in a very satisfied tone. Almost like she knew she had won the discussion. "Now get off me!"

Roy knew he had lost the argument. After all, how can he deny the truth? He got up and left her room, without saying a word. It almost looked like he was blushing, that, or he was still partially drunk. Both possible.

Sara shooed Ed and Al out of her room, and hopped in the shower. She hurried out and changed into her favorite pair of jeans and a shirt that was laced at the bottom. Man did she love not having to wear her uniform. Something about her being in her uniform, made her slightly uncomfortable. But, that was besides the point. Ed and Al were still waiting outside her door. She made sure she had everything she needed, pocketwangch and all. She hurried out the door, making sure to lock it behind her and was ready to follow them and protect them.

"What took you so long? Sheesh." the short alchemist sighed. "We're in a hurry you know, we don't want to miss the train."

They arrived at the train station and were buying the tickets needed. Lucky for them, the train was just arriving. They hurried to their train and took a seat. After just a few minutes of sitting, the train was start to get pretty full. Ed was about to start a story when a girl's voice was heard.

"Um, may I take a seat here? All the other spots are full..." she said quite shyly.

"Of course you can!" Sara said as she scooted over out from the middle of the seat, Ed and Al were sitting across from her.

"Thank you very much." She said as she sat down.

The girl was fairly tall, and had very long, brown hair. Going down to about her waist. She had beautiful pink eyes, that seemed to sparkle in the light.

"How are you... um... what was your name again?" Sara asked.

"Oh, I'm sorry! It was very rude of me," she said, quite ashamed that she did not mention her name earlier, "my name is Liaizon Silversun*, nice to meet you."

"You can just call me Sara," Sara replied, "if you don't mind me asking, where are you headed?"

"Oh, nowhere really, just going on a ride." she said, hesitant to answer truthfully.

Sara sensed that Liaizon didn't want to talk anymore, so, she just let it go. She turned her head and stared out the window. There were lots of mountains, but, Sara had already forgotten where they were headed.

They have been in the train two hours now. Sara's stomach was starting to 'talk', and fairly loud too. She didn't want to let Ed, Al, and Liaizon to hear her stomach. She'd be too embarassed. Sara started regretting not eating breakfast now.

"Are we there yet?" Sara had cracked. She couldn't handle the boredom, and the fight to stop her stomach from 'talking'.

"No, we still have about another hour to go." Ed replied, apparently he was used to these long train rides.

"Man this stinks. I'm not used to these long rides." Sara sighed.

"It's not that bad, I actually enjoy looking at the scenery." Al said, trying to be cheerful.

"Not when the scenery never changes, it's all a bunch of mountains." Sara replied,  she seemed to be pouting now.

After she said that, no one else talked, which made her regret saying that. She looked over at Liaizon, and saw that she had fallen asleep. Man, this stunk. She had nothing left to do. She just thought. Thought about irrelevant things, such as why cats are almost always smaller than dogs, and why the rainbow never seemed to touch the ground, no matter how close you got to it. After just a few minutes of thinking, she fell asleep.

************************************

"Wake up, you're going to make us late!" Ed said as he shook Sara's shoulder, "wake up!"

"Ahh, go away." she said as she was getting up.

She was about to leave the seating area when she realized that Liaizon had not woken up yet. She stopped, wondering what she should do. Realizing that waking her up would be the best idea. She gently shook Liaizon on the shoulder, and surprisngly, she woke up.

"I didn't know whether or not this was your stop, I just want to let you know, I'd just thought I'd tell you." Sara said softly, not wanting to give her a fright after she had just woken.

"Oh, thank you for telling me," she replied with a smile, "but, I'm not stopping here."

"I'm really sorry I woke you!!" Sara said, embarassed by her mistake.

"It's no trouble at all, have a nice time." Liaizon said.

"Bye!" Sara said as she hurried off the train.

She thought she had lost Ed and Al until she saw a glare off of Al's armor. That was the easiest way to find them. Except for the obvious height factor.

Sara caught up with them and found that they were discussing directions or something. She didn't quite grasp all of what they were saying.

"It's settled then," Ed finished up their conversation "we're heading towards the town."

Sara didn't even bother questioning him. After all, that's what she wasn't ordered to do. She was ordered to protect the two, and dammit, she was going to do it!

"We heard some rumors," Ed seemed to feel like telling Sara where they were going and why, "about someone who knows a bit about the Philosopher's Stone, so we're going to go see the person."

"You're going after the Philosopher's Stone?!" Sara questioned, curious and yet, interested.

"Brother, I thought we were keeping this a secret..." Al seemed a bit unsteady about the thought of telling people.

"Al, she's going to find out eventually, better now than having to explain it all in a hurry later." Ed seemed like he had reached the end of the conversation with Al by saying that.

"Are you going to explain to me why you two are searching for the Philosopher's Stone?" Sara asked, really curious now.

"To put it simple, Al isn't human, at the moment." Ed said. "Al, show her."
Ed and Al stopped walking, and Sara stopped infront of Al, her curiousity getting the best of her. Al unlatched something, and opened his chestplate. Sara looked throughout the inside of the body, wondering how it was possible. Looking near the head, she saw an alchemy sign.

"You two..." She started "...tried Human transmutation?"

"H-h-how'd you know??" Al asked, quite nervous and surprised by what Sara said.

"I'm not stupid," Sara started "I know a lot more about Alchemy than you might think. Why do you think they accepted me into the military? Not because of good looks that I don't even have. Anyway, how long has it been?"

"Not too long," Ed replied "but, definetly long enough. I've promised Al that I would get his body back, and I'll be damned if I don't keep it."

 "Brother... what about y-"

"Al! How many times have I told you!? Forget about me! I only want to make YOU better!"

"Brother! I'd feel horrible if we just fixed me and not you!"

 "Dammit Al!"

Ed was really mad now, it really made Sara feel uncomfortable. She was regretting even bringing up the topic. Her curiousity always seemed to get the

best of her.

"Look guys," Sara said, tring to calm them down "I'm sorry I even brought it up, let's just continue to wherever we were headed to. I mean, look, it's a really nice day out! When we get to town, I'll buy you lunch."

Ed stopped talking, and just walked. Sara followed, as did Al. It was a very awkward and quiet walk to the town. Sara would think about making a comment on the day, or an animal she saw, but she thought it would be best to just keep the silence. After all, one wrong thing said, could mean in a whole new argument.

Within the hour, they had reached the small town called Tschüß**. It didn't seem like three minutes before Sara's stomach started... 'talking' again.

"Heh heh, how about I keep up on my end of the deal? Where would you like to eat?" Sara said, somewhat afraid of getting yelled at.

 "Wherever." Ed sighed.

"Let's see what we can find..." Sara said as she looked around "Al, do you see any place that looks somewhat nice?"

"Um... how about over there?" Al said, as he pointed.

Al spotted a small, yet cozy-looking outdoor... shack, I guess you could call it. It looked like it was located in, or near a park. So, Sara thought that it seemed like a great place to eat. She headed over there with Al following, so Ed, unwillingly, followed. They sat down at the table.

"Um, so Ed, what do you want? Remember, it's my treat, get as much as you want!" Sara said, trying to bring some cheerfulness back.

"I don't want anything." Ed said, facing in another direction.

"What do you mean? You haven't eaten a thing today!" Sara said.

"I just don't want anything to eat." Ed said, with his voice raising by the word.

"You know what? Fine. You want to act like a child, sulking about who knows what, go ahead. We won't eat. Where are we headed?" Sara started raising her voice as well.

Ed didn't say anything, either he had felt bad about sulking, or, he couldn't think of anything else to say. He just got up, and started walking. Hopefully for Sara, going where they were originally headed. Al got up and followed Ed as well. Sara, remembering why she had to follow them, got up as well.

After what seemed like an eternity, Ed stopped infront of a house. Sara couldn't tell how he knew which was which, they were all lined up, and looked just about the same. She didn't care really. She just wanted to get this over with. They knocked on the door, and a middle-aged man opened.

"Why, good evening," he said "may I help you?"

"Yeah, we're looking for information about the Philosopher's Stone, and I've heard rumors that you might now a bit about it." Ed replied.

"How do you know about me?" the man asked, slightly nervous.

"From a man named Hohenheim." Ed said.

"Hohenheim... how do you know him?" the man asked another question, as if to put off the discussion of the Stone.

"I guess you could say we're like family." Ed said, with a slight smile on his face.

"Well, come on in..." the man said, knowing he couldn't win against the small boy.

Ed, Al, and Sara walked in, and the middle-aged man, sat them to a table. He sat down, and looked at Ed.

"And... who might you be?" the man asked, looking at Ed.

"I'm Edward Elric, the FullMetal Alchemist." Ed replied, looking quite smug.

"The one who works in the military?" the man asked another question, you would almost think he was interrogating him.

"The one and only." Ed replied, as he started to worry about the questions he was being asked.

"Get out." the man said. "I don't like alchemists, one bit. You are all greedy, looking for the same thing, eternal life, an infinite amount of riches, whatever it may be, you don't deserve it."

"You have no idea what I want it for." Ed said in his defense.

"I would almost bet you that it's something for your own gain." the man replied, with a stern look on his face.

"Well, you'd lose that bet, because it has nothing to do with me! It has to do with my brother!" Ed yelled, he was furious now.

"Oh what, you want to bring your brother back from the dead?" the man said, equally angry.

"My brother isn't dead! He's sitting right next to me!" Ed yelled, as he opened Al's chestplate "I want to fix what I messed up!! I don't care if it costs me MY LIFE. Now, dammit, tell me what you know about the Stone!"

"Human transmutation..." was all the man could say.

Ed didn't say a thing, and after a few seconds, it got deathly silent in the room. Sara and Al didn't know what they were to do. Sara had never seen Ed as mad as this, and Al, well, he was just shocked. He didn't like it when Ed mentioned that he would give up his life. He was scared of losing Ed. His big brother, and his best friend.

"You did the same thing I did..." the man finally spoke.

"What are you talking about?" Ed asked, still mad, but curious about what he meant.

"Well, I've performed Human transmutation twice. Both of them were to bring someone close to me back. The first time, it was my wife. The second, my brother. Bringing back my wife, was a success. Except, she ended dissapearing. Then, soon after, my brother died. I used Human Transmutation to try to bring my brother back, but it failed. And now..." the man stopped, and got up.

As the man got up, it went quiet again. He walked over to a cabinet, and pulled out something. No one could see quite what it was, but then he showed it. He was holding a gun. He quickly aimed at his heart, and shot. Then fell to the floor.

 "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" Sara screamed, turning pale.

"What the hell?!" Ed said, panicking.

"Brother, why did he do that?" Al said, just as nervous as anyone else.
After just around one minute, the man started to get up. When he finally stood back up, everyone inched farther away from him.

"Are you a homunculus?" asked Al.

"No, I'm not a homunculus," the man replied, "when I tried bringing my brother back, as I said, I did not succeed. He remained dead, and now, I'm cursed. No matter what I do to myself, I cannot die. I do not know how this is possible, but now, no matter what I do, lost cells in my body just multiply so rapidly in the affected area, that, it heals itself, almost instantly. See, after I tried to bring my brother back, and failed, I tried commiting suicide. I didn't want to live without him. I couldn't bear the thought of losing my best friend... but now... I won't ever be able to see him. I thought, that when I were to die, I'd be lucky enough, to meet him..."

"So, you're stuck on Earth... forever?" asked Al, not able to grasp the information.

"Yes. Until the end of the universe itself. That's why, every ten years, I move, change my name, and start a new life. I won't ever be able to have a family again. No friends either. I'll be wandering the Earth alone, unless I find someone who is like me. Who cannot die." the man said.

The room went silent, a third time. Sara, was just recovering from a shock, Al was making sure Sara was okay, and Ed was... amazed. How was there a man who could not die? It was not scientifically possible, but, he saw the proof for himself. He knew it couldn't have been true... it must've been a magic trick or something.

"Anyway, what did you want to know about the Stone? I feel I can trust you." the man said, as he handed Ed a small notebook he carried around in his pocket.

"Woah." Ed said as he flipped through the notebook.

*Liaizon Silversun is a character created by piratespiritzero. I only wish I could've thought of a character with such a great name, so, all credit goes to her, and I know Liaizon didn't have much of a role in this chapter, but she'll appear later on, when the time is right. ^^;;

**Tschüß is German for "Bye", atleast I think it is. XD I just had to think of a German word, for I don't want to use any real towns. Now, if that's a real town... oops. >_>;;

And now, for the apology. I am sooo sorry that I haven't added a new chapter since... well... actually, it's been almost a year. o_o;; Wow. -hides in shame-

"My brother isn't dead! He's sitting right next to me!" Ed yelled, as he opened Al's chestplate "I want to fix what I messed up!! I don't care if it costs me MY LIFE. Now, dammit, tell me what you know about the Stone!" "Human transmutation..." was all the man could say.
