I sat down in one of the many knots on the face of the tree, listening to her song. It seemed to speak of peace and hope. No where else would I find such a human. It was as though she was destined to be taught by a fey. I left the knot and flew to a few feet in front of her, and slowly grew till I resumed my natural size, the height of two or three sunflowers placed one upon the other. The girl shrieked, a noise so horrid, I could barely believe it came from the same being.
"Quiet!" I hushed her, setting down my nearly empty satchel. Her eyes went wide, her mouth quivering, as she watched my movements.
"Who are you?" She whispered.
"Monarch Lilyanna of the Fey, and you, dear child, shalt be my student," I placed my hands on my hips and watched her reaction. Her knuckles were white from gripping the material, almost like vines, which allowed the plank of wood to remain attached to the branch of the tree. Then, her eyes raced back and forth.
"Fey....as in Faerie? As in the mystical little folk who love to play pranks on humans? The ones who leave changlings in place of a real human child? That Fey?" She seamed even more afraid now. I had to calm her down, or risk losing this wonderous pupil.
"Fey as in Faerie, correct. However, we do not leave changlings in place of true human children, nor do we, how did you say it...play pranks on you. We simply care for Gaia as she cares for us. We live, free of most cares other then the saving of Gaia. And for this, I wish to enlist your aide." I furled my wings and sat down carefully upon the grass near her feet.
"You want my help to save....Gaia? The spirit of the earth?" She got down off the plank and sat down acrossed from me.
"Yes, the spirit of the earth. The spirit which protects us all. She, however, can not do it on her own, and needs the help of those willing enough. I believe that you could help the fey to save Gaia from the polution created from your machines. Child-"
"Aria," she interrupted, "my name is Aria."
"Aria, dear, do you wish to learn of Gaia, to learn the magic and the healing that I can teach you, to save the Earth for the generations yet to come?" I looked at her quizically, wondering whether I should warn her that her journey would not be an easy one. It had not been for the boy I had trained years before, before the pollution had really even began. How would it fare now for this girl in a time where everything the humans did produced pollution? Would she find the joy in working and healing the earth as others had before we had been needed to share our teachings to more then just the new fey? These were questions only she could answer, and only if she said yes.
And so it begins

I've always been fond of the name Morgana, but that doesn't seem to fit her. Aria suits her a little bit better. What do you think?
