One day a black and white cat with a heart shape spot on her chest jump on the window seal of a boy, Saku. Saku was shock to see the cat sitting there. He was even more shock to hear her talk, "Hi I'm Kitty, nice to meet you". Saku replied to her back and they started a conversation. Saku found out that she is a stray without any friends and family like himself. He also found out that she is lonely just on how she sounded. While Kitty found out that Saku is an orphan because his parents died from a fire in the house when he was out side playing with a cat. He was 3 years old when it happened. Kitty also found out that he has no friends and that he's been living by himself ever since he ran away from the orphanage right after he turned 17. He told her that he manage to get some money from working to gt an apartment and now he's doing good but that he's been lonely ever since. After 2 hours talking Kitty said she had to leave and do something that night. Saku asked "Will you be back?" Kitty replied happily "Yes." Then Saku went out to get some things for his new found friend. He got some food, fishy treats, toys, a bed, and a very pretty pink collar with a little silver cat charm he found under his bed. He waited the whole night at the window seal for Kitty to come back, but fell asleep before she showed up.

Around 2 in the mourning Kitty showed up and found Saku sitting there sleeping in front of the window seal. She also saw the stuff he bought her right next to him. Though she was happy that he bought her things she was more happy and some other weird feeling inside of her she never felt for him just because he was there waiting for her. So she got on his lap and curled up and fell asleep.

Morning came, and Kitty found herself on the bed Saku bought for her. Confused she gets up and finds that she's wearing the pink collar too, she walks around calling for Saku. When the door opened Saku came in with some breakfast from the local restaurant. Saku calls Kitty over to the table to eat. When she got there, Saku picked her up and put her in front of some food. He asked if she like the collar he got her she answered happily "Yes." After breakfast Saku ask Kitty if she'd liked to be called Hitomie instead because Kitty sounded like she didn't have a name. Kitty thought for a second and said "Yes, but where did u get that name from?" Saku answered "I heard that name when I was little, but I don't remember who said that name or who it was." So now Kitty is not Kitty anymore. She is Hitomie.

Hitomie and Saku's friendship got stronger and stronger as days past by. It was odd that the cat could talk, but Saku didn't mind. He was happy he had someone to talk to. Saku wasn't feeling lonely anymore and neither was Hitomie.
Saku felt that their friendship got so strong that nothing could tear them apart, and that now he could tell her something that he has been keeping a secret from everyone he knows and has ever meet since the death of his parents. Find out in the next time in part 2 of Ougi no Itoe.
