Well, about a month or so ago, I entered a fan-manga contest on theotaku.com for the New York Anime Festival.  I just checked recently and I found out that I am one of fourteen finalists whose work be displayed at the convention in New York! w00000t! I'm just so happy! I also hope that I win, because the prize is to have your mini-manga published in the next volume of Black Sun, Silver Moon. That'd be soo great (and possibly a really big break for me. I'd like to enter the Rising Stars of Manga, but I cannot find any new info on when the deadline is... so I may miss it (If I haven't already...) But still, winning would be kool.
