Oh dear, it’s the 31^st of October,

And while all the world is in slumber,

I sit here on my laptop

Sweat going “drop, drop, drop”

Trying to avoid any danger.

The lightning flashes,

And into my room something dashes,

I quake in my boots,

Stuck in by the roots,

My heart goes numb as something smashes.

You don’t have to be much of a wiz,

To see the fear my insides fizz,

So I peer left and right,

Oh what a frightful night

The 31^st of October is!

As I enter my room,

I sing a soft tune,

Quick as a mouse,

The lights they do douse,

For certain is my doom.

The lights flicker on

I see nothing gone,

My fear rises,

Growing 3 or 4 sizes,

For I see a light on the lawn!

Out the window I look,

My hands wobbled and shook,

I see a figure down below,

And what do you know,

I’ve not spotted the crook.

It’s my friend on the grass,

Not the suspected slimy mass,

Throwing rocks at my door,

Till her arms grew sore,

For another fright tonight, I shall pass.

She waves for me to come down,

To spend a night on the town,

I fly down with ease,

And land among the trees,

And planted on my face a frown.

She helps me break free

And we run away with glee

For a time of fright,

Oh what a night,

The 31^st of October turned out to be!

We hunt for ghosts,

But only find bad hosts,

We run from bats

Pet black cats

And shiver in our coats.

The night is getting long,

I fear our fun is almost gone,

It is time to flee

Back to home with thee,

Both of us stifling yawns.

Today I’ve learned a lesson,

That I don’t think I’ll be messin’

With for awhile,

‘Cuz that’s not my style,

Not my type of adressin’.

I always like to learn more,

Though sometimes it’s a chore,

I’ve learned to be merry

Because Halloween isn’t scary,

But it’s Valentine's Day you have to watch out for.
