No, I'm not there, but plenty of other blogs and news sites are sooo.. a rundown may be in order, but first..

Been quiet lately, but busy! A good chunk of the Manga Recon team go together and made a 2008 Midterm Report Card! It features our favorite picks from the first half of '08, several titles appear more than once.. which titles? Click and find out!

On to the SDCC news annnnd.. there's not much. Actually, nothing really caught my attention this year, and not just on the manga/anime front.. the US comics annoucements were pretty slim as well. I'm seriously underwhelmed by the lack of interesting announcements. I wonder if this could be a sign of the industry levelling out though..? Interesting to speculate upon. But yeah, there's nothing really new.

The one piece of anime/manga news that did catch my attention was...

The announcement of Afro Samurai: Resurrection! It's set to air on Spike sometime in Jan., and should be out on DVD by Feb. The first trailer went up on Friday and it looks great. You can view it here. Most of the voice cast from the first one returns, as does RZA for the soundtrack. Plus, let's not forget that the first volume of the manga should be coming out in Sept! Huzzah!

Sadly, that was about it. Viz, Dark Horse, CMX, Del Rey.. while there were a few new series mentioned, most of the news seemed to focus on things we already knew about. Clamp at Dark Horse, Viz's upcoming release of 20th Century Boys and Pluto, etc.

Tsk.

On the upside, tomorrow Ani-Monday unveils its new line up! Starting at 11 PM EST, one hour of Gurren Lagann followed by an hour of Here and There! Should be good!
