“NEMESIS OF THE TUNDRA”
Introduction
The System Government attempted to control the planet’s weather. They wanted to control the weather because sand storms ranging form five square kilometers to over the size of an category 5 Earth hurricane with equal speed and destructive power, these sand storms commonly created devastating static lighting that would interfere with radios and in some cases destroy buildings and kill.
If successful the controlling of the weather would stop the need to shut down and repair strip mining equipment and make living there a bit more tolerable.
But this ultimately failed the rain that was common every three or four weeks seemed to vanish completely. The System Government knew if knowledge of the failure left the planet it would be the end of their lives. To prevent such a thing from happening they shut down every planetary space port and sub space communications capable building so that no one would learn of their mistake.
The people who where left on the planet angered that their own government condemned them to the planet did what any other population would do in a planet wide shut down. They rioted, begged their religious gods and goddesses for forgiveness and in rare occasions...suicide. Two days later an unknown women supposedly pointed blame to the planet’s military.
The people knew this wasn’t true because the military was offered to be extracted from the planet and every single one of them said no and defected from the government. There were two shots fired one killing the women and the other was fired by a solider; naturally the solider was blamed for silencing the women an began what was later called “The Ca’tar massacre”.
When the riot ended two military personal and ninety four civilians were killed. Weeks pasted and in that time three groups were founded three of the seven largest cities were taken over and made into gang territories. It has been ten years since the Ca’tar massacre and the gangs have kept to themselves trading black market goods such as jewelry, furniture, electronics, and even themselves.
The sand storms haven’t stopped and are still as deadly to anyone or anything that is caught in them. But there is more than just sand in the storms…
