This is Clementine Goldwater, a character from a manga I have since thought very seriously about abandoning. But I really like this character, even if I don't particularly like this sketch, and plan to incorporate her into the manga I'm currently planning. This sketch is over a year old now. Since then I've gotten better both at drawing and digitally coloring. This was done well past 2AM, I recall. I blame that for the wonky coloring of the outlines. Anyway, Clem is slightly neurotic, constantly feeling the need to uphold the status of the 'knighthood' bestowed upon her by her grandfather, who also gave her the sword you see here, which in turn had been given to him by *his* grandfather, who had developed it during the late 1890's to be used in the U.S. Army, though it never made it past prototype form. The family has passed down a fairly complex fighting style which allows them to accurately wield the behemoth blade as both an edge and a gun; a near miracle. Because she is constantly training, her small frame (5'4'') is almost entirely muscle. I really need to redraw this soon. The sword holster (a la Cloud's in Advent Children,) has been noted to look like a boat motor. And the shell bandoleer wrapped around her arm looks silly, too. *Sigh.* But hey, it's important to know where I came from. It grounds me. If I thought I was good then, I'm just as bad now, but it'll be another year before I realize it!
