This is Claire, from what was formerly known as "Long Night Song." You may or may not recognize her, as she tends to change somewhat drastically between drawings. This image is not really representative of her; it started as a trace of a figure, just meant for practice. She's not meant to be this thin or buxom, but the figure I traced was exceedingly well-endowed, and wearing a push-up bra to boot. At the point this sketch was made, her personality hadn't been fully written yet, so her expression is a little less wary than it would be now. And my collaborator and I have been giving some serious thought to giving her a different hairstyle. Possibly one with real bangs and/or longer hair. The name 'Claire' was just sort of pulled out of nowhere, but I realized later that her boyfriend's name was Sam, and that I know of a very awesome couple named "Sam and Claire." A cookie to anyone who knows of whom I speak! (Hints: Internets, psychotic bear.) [...] Her cat's name is Sebastian, for no real reason other than it sounds neat. There's nothing particularly special about him, aside from his having been drawn in an interesting mixture of realism and simplicity. I'm undecided regarding the results. You'll notice that Claire's feet are barely drawn in at all. This is because, on top of the somewhat strange angles produced by this pose, it's difficult for me to render the platform-heeled leather boots she's supposed to be wearing. Mostly, though, I like the way her legs and skirt turned out. I'm proud of the hand holding the book, too. Her shirts really ought to be looser, and she needs smaller boobs. As I said, her face and hair don't represent her current form. I like the way the choker turned out, though. You may note (it's kind of hard to tell at this size,) that she displays a pentagram on her neck and book. This is because she's a Wiccan. Not like on "Charmed," mind you, (*vomits,*) but rather, a real, honest practitioner of the Wiccan faith. Any "magickal powers" (*vomits again*) she may have would hardly be dramatic or amazing. LNS is not a story about magic (though it was in an early version.) It is a story about human emotion, and Claire's faith plays into that in a big way. That's all. [...] I mentioned before that her nickname is "Tinsel." This comes from her propensity for watching anime and her unwise decision to wear her hair to class like Sailor Moon once in middle school. The shiny ribbons in her hair quickly earned her a nickname she immediately resented. Her boyfriend is, of course, the only one who gets away with calling her it without getting socked in the face. (He just gets punched in the gut.)
