“What do you mean by she has to stay overnight?”
I heard Claude yell at doctor just outside the room. I remember Hoshihiro carrying me from the bus in the pouring rain to
“It’s as simple as your mind, sir. Ms. Skye has to stay overnight at least so we can observe her and make sure the medicine kicks in.”
I then heard Claude slam him into the wall and most likely hit him in the gut with his powerful sidekick. Why does my manager have to be so violent when things do not go his way? I swear sometimes that man acts his shoe size not his age. This is when I got out of the hospital bed and clumsily walked to the hallway where my wonderful manager and the doctor were in a fight.
“OKAY BOYS!” I yelled at them to stop and they immediately did, “Stop it Claude, there is no need for your national title martial arts skills so put the physician down.” Claude did as I said and I turned my attention to the doctor, “You, listen to me. My manager does have a simple mind, I’ll give you that, but, don’t make fun of people that know the patients because you can get yourself hurt severely by those wise cracks of yours as you’ve just experienced.”
“Ms. Hitoame you should be in bed, resting your petite self. Now go to bed Lady Skye Kangen and do not fret over the conflicts of your manager and me.”
“Fine but please don’t say my middle name ever again. I normally would hit you for it but I’m in no condition to do so.”
I coughed and stumbled back into my hospital room. Once in the confines of my shabby hospital bed I heard Claude say one last thing to the doctor.
“You should listen to her. She may be young and violent but she has wisdom beyond her years sometimes. In addition, when she says she does not like something she means it on pain of death. Sayonara to you sir and don’t get in my way ever again.”
I returned to the safety of my bed and rested my head on the not so soft pure white pillow. I shut my eyes to attempt to go to sleep even though it was early.
Why do I have to be so frail? Unlike my personality, which can come across as rough and abrasive, I have a condition, I no one ever told me what the name of this condition but it causes me to pass out randomly as well as develop stomach ulcers and suddenly lose ranges of my voice. It is supposedly genetic and that someone on my father’s side had the same symptoms at one point and time. This is just another harsh unpleasant fact for me to deal within my life.
“Skyera you still awake at this hour?”
I turned my head to the glow of the doorway and tried to see the person in the middle of the light but I sadly could not make out the details of the figure to match the voice to the body.
“Yeah, I can’t sleep at all. The vibrant flashing lights of Shibuya are keeping me awake, not to mention the bright sun that is still out.”
The figure stepped closer in the room, pulled a chair by my bedside, and looked at me with dark emerald eyes. His eyes let me know who it was that came to be with me. “Oh, it is you Fukiyashi that came to see me. Why are you here, it’s not that late you know.”
“You can stop it with the formal speech; it’s only me you’re talking to here. It is not as if I’m one of those big shots from shoots and companies you speak to almost everyday.”
I could not help but smile at him and his request for me to speak in street format. I am not sure why but, he makes me smile randomly like this.
“Of, course Fuki; I’d be delighted to fulfill your request of street format.”
I said that obviously to get a rise out of him. It is just fun for me to be playful and bully him like that.
“Come on now Skyera, Please stop talking like that, it’s starting to freak me out a little.”
I saw the look in Fuki’s eyes, immediately stopped, this look ment business, and requires absolute seriousness. “I am worried about your health. Do you not think that this business is slowly killing you? All this stress and lifestyle can’t be that good for you can you see that?”
I sat up and looked out the window into the streets of Shibuya. Somehow avoiding the look on Fuki’s face let me think without hesitation.
“What if I do not want to stop, Fuki?”
Fuki moved to the side of my bed and got closer to me by doing so.
“You are avoiding the question at hand Skye, answer me.”
I felt the anger build up inside me, but in an attempt to not slap and or punch him, I clenched my fist in the white blanket.
“Don’t ever call me Skye. Think, you imbecile, I do what I want and do not care about my health. If I cared a little bit, do you think I would try to be a J-pop singer? No darn way, I may look like a Barbie doll but my head is not full of plastic.” I flung my legs to the side of the bed and tried to get out of bed. “Now, if you excuse me Fuki but I am going to go and find a glass of water.”
