Zokusho: Crystal Blade stuff

Random details about my story. Which is set in the Zokusho Universe, invented by Aerix. other stories are written by SerenityBlue, RazielRedel2 and Shy0ne1. BrandonFranklin has some cool artwork on his page too.

Now for the stuff.

The Crystal Blade- Obviously the most important item. One of the strongest weapons ever created without magic. Made from a star metal that is invisible to the human eye. Anyone who hears about it desires to own its power for themselves. The most important people after it are the Dragon Cult and the Raiga Samurai. Currently being hidden as the Old Man’s walking stick due to magic runes on the scabbard which the Swordsmith had an artificer put there to hide it from people.

The Dragon Cult- A very powerful group of criminals who want to rule Interplanes by use of magical artefacts. Includes local police chief and many aristocrats. Currently after the Crystal Blade, but have no clue as to where it is. I plan to have them test Mike and Rachel for their abilities by having them retrieve said artefacts and pretending they originally owned them.

The Phoenix Clan- The enemy of the Dragon Cult, although their goal is the same. Consists of primarily lower, working class people and street thugs. Hired the Raiga Samurai among other dangerous mercenaries to carry out their work.

The 13th Decimal- The name of Jon, James and David’s secret society. Taken from the mathematical principle that a tiny change at a low decimal place will have great effects after any sufficiently large calculation has taken place.

The Sword Collector’s Guide- An important book that is updated regularly. Lists the greatest swords ever made, including an article about the best swordsmiths and best swords made recently. Lots of useful info about where to get cheap swords and where to get the best. The Blind swordsmith has never been featured, due to him not paying for advertising. Read by Feyanna.

Mike’s Original Armour- A random running joke I thought I would come up with. The armour will pass from character to character for various reasons, but never reaching Mike due to his always having something more important to do at the time.

Rule One- Taken directly from Discworld, Rule One states that you should never mess with a little old man who is either on his own or with a young man, because he will almost always turn out to be some great martial artist or something.

The Interplanes Paper- A very big and successful newspaper company in Interplanes, but you can tell that from the title. A blatant parody of The Daily Bugle (Spider-man) and the Daily Planet (Superman).

The Escalirion, The Blade of Nebull and the Sword of Vengeance- Three of the Blind Swordsmith’s most famous works. The first is one of the twelve legendary blades (number kept large in case in infringes on anything of Aerix’s) and is considered to be lost on some distant plane. The blade of Nebull was used in the latest great war of Raiga, and the Sword of Vengeance is what finally defeated Nebull. Both also thought lost in some distant planes.

Raiga Detective Agency- The official name for Mike’s job. People often accidentally assume that Raiga is a name, because Terra Raiga is not very famous.

Terra Raiga- The not-very-well-known plane which Mike hails from. Only the most avid weapons collectors and monster hunters would recognise it upon hearing the name. Very typical fantasy type world, with some unusually powerful creatures roaming the vast wildernesses. For this reason most people live in a solitary large city. The city (Which has never in its history required a name) follows a moderately strange layout. The political buildings all occupy the centre naturally, with the main temple of Elleria at the exact centre. Outward from this spreads suburban housing. Scattered throughout are all the usual conveniences, such as schools and police stations etc.

Beyond the main suburban sprawl of the city lie hundreds of acres of land turned over for farming. Beyond the farms lies the wall.

The wall itself is an impressive structure, with many hundreds of battlements placed along it. The wall has prevented powerful creatures (Like Dragons), evil warlocks and even armies of semi-intelligent monsters (Such as Goblins or Trolls). The wall guard double as the police core for the city, ensuring crime is kept low. One section of the city even includes an inlet from the vast ocean, which proffers safe fishing and access to water (Although it does have to be purified by mages).

Other than this one city, many small villages also exist, scattered throughout what is mostly forest. Each of the villages follows pretty much the same pattern as the city, although on nowhere near as much of a grand scale. Most are sited on rivers running towards the ocean. Because of this, travel by boat is more common than anything else. Most villages trade with the city and send their youngsters there to train in whatever profession they desire. No village has ever grown large enough to hold its own college or other training facility larger than a basic school.

Because of the dangers inherent in living in a world such as this, good weapons and armour are highly prized. Most mages and the world’s greatest minds are therefore constantly trying to find ways of making better weapons. This explains why they are of such high quality. However, most of the weapons never leave the world because of the high demand from the wall guards.

The Goddess of the world, Elleria, is most commonly seen as a Goddess of the forge or smith, because that’s where she is most devoutly worshipped, although she encumbers everything to do with a siege, from the growing of crops to the healing of disease. Statues dedicated to her and her angels can be seen in schools and atop the wall. Although few are allowed in, it is said the inner sanctum of her temple holds a life size statue of each of her angels. They are said to greet the new high priest (Or priestess) as he walks towards his coronation. His seat is said to have a statue of the Goddess herself standing behind it, wearing the strongest armour and carrying the sturdiest sword yet created on the world. (The sword was naturally created by the Bind Swordsmith’s master many years ago. The pupils of those who created her armour and shield are also said to live somewhere remote.)

The world itself is led by a democracy. Of sorts. Only a select few are allowed to vote on who becomes the 1st Lord, and only from their own number. Although anybody may become one of the Voting Lords, through various means. The current leader is 1st Lord Sal Grey, who became a Voting Lord when he slew the Wyvern-riding Dark King Nebull. Before that he was a wall guard.

The current High Priestess of Elleria is Margaret Cowl, who has recently celebrated her thirty-third birthday and second year in office.

Oh, and there is enough ambient magic for Interplanars, they just feel slightly sluggish.

Terra Ogra- Another Terra connected to Interplanes, although travel there is hardly common. The local people are considered thuggish and stupid, having had their genetics mixed with those of Ogres thousands of years ago. Few pure-blooded Ogres still live there, far away from the part-Ogre humans. Most people from this world are banned from leaving, due to their high aptitude and penchance for violence. These people are called Ogrekin.

Ogrekin- A form of sentient species, although less of the sentient part. Descended from a mix of Ogre and Human ancestors, they are naturally resilient to magic and physical harm, whilst still retaining at least some of their human creativity. It must be said that this isn’t all that much. Intelligent enough to learn a crude form of human speech, they have a flourishing society back on their home-plane of Terra Ogra. Due to their magickal resilience they managed to avoid the ancient spell that cast all other magickal creatures into Interplanes. This was fortunate for everybody, since very few Ogrekin have ever been able to control magick. And those who have don’t tend to last long, since merely being resilient doesn’t count for much against explosions directly in front of the face. They are naturally violent and unfriendly to anybody they don’t know. This makes being a primary school teacher on terra Ogra the single most dangerous profession in the planes, especially during September when school first starts.

Axbz- I really like making up random species. This one is almost the exact opposite of an albino. Jet black skin and hair, which only grows as eyebrows and braidable lengths in front of the ears. According to tradition,  the males shave off their right braids when they achieve their first kill during a hunt. This entitles them to choose a wife, who has to shave off her left braid. This is a sort of Darwinian evolution trait in that it means the strongest males get to choose the most attractive females.

These traditions have been changed somewhat since they were banished to Interplanes by the great spell some ages past. Now they live in close-nit communities in select parts of Interplanes. The male will shave off their hair when they graduate from school, which is seen as the equivalent to slaying a great beast. The rest of the tradition remains intact.

It is rare, although not entirely unknown, for an Axbz to marry a non-Axbz. When a male graduates and isn’t interested in any of the local girls, he may choose any girl he wishes. Although this will mean extrication from the community, due to their natural paranoia.

The plane they came from (Which I may not even name) has no true daytime. The closest is when the sun’s rays bounced off of three moons at the same time. Since the plane has about eight major moons and several smaller ones, this happens about every 59 hours, although only for an average of 7 hours at a time.

The largest creature is a mammalian creature resembling a T-rex in size and shape. This feeds on another large mammalian creature, which resembles a very large millipede. They feed on the colourless grass which is to be found all over the plane. These creatures provided the Axbz with most of their meat while they still lived there.

I may not even use any of this information, but it could be useful to someone else (Hey, Edgar likes to use strange sparring locations).

There will probably be a lot more stuff to add as well.

I have decided to change the name of the Axbz to the Noiren, mostly because axbz sounded lame.

Despite the fact that I am disgustingly far behind in both Zokusho and Zokusho CB, I found this really interesting... Is that bad? O_o
