Landslide progress and thoughts on relocating MLC

Landslide is coming along well. I'm definetly nearing the final curtain. Parts I fantasized about writing for months are finally happening, so that's way, way cool. That's the good news. Bad news, I'm probably going to start removing all but the first few chapters very soon. Until I start submitting a final draft for publication, it will be hosted on my WDC portfolio, simply because WDC has a simple, non-legaleese copyright ownership policy. (If you post your work on WDC you still own it 110%.) Tokyopop doesn't have this, and, in light of recent things I've noticed, I don't think this is the safest place for Jamie and the crew. Well, especially Jamie. He bruises easily and has irritable bowels. Mutsumi is the designated "Tough Bastard Who Never Seems To Go Away Ever," so he'll be fine no matter where I put him.

I'm just as 110% behind the MLC clan moving off TP. This site is broken, annoying, and as I've just stated, has no outright and clear copyright ownership policy. Now, Cal, our fearless leader, admits she doesn't know much about creating a seperate website. I don't think that's necessary. As I see it, we have two good options that I've had experience with.

The first is, again, WDC (Writing.com) It has various group and forum features that would make it easier to keep serious members organized, divy up duties and host contests. There's also a lot of non-MLC contests hosted by other members, so there is lots of room to experience a variety of things. The interface is much easier and less cluttered, and the site is egregiously reliable, with barely any downtime.

Secondly, we could also use a combo of GoogleDocs and GooglePages. This would be a bit more complicated but far more customizeable... however, the process of posting your fiction would be very complex and time-consuming. I'm not sure if Squid or ANYONE in the clan has time for that option.

If you can think of any other paths we could take, that would be great. MLC's going nomad, baby! (I call the wagon with Joseph NOT in it. He goes days without bathing. |8 [ )

I can host MLC on my own site, as I have stated elsewhere it then only be a basic php forum, nothing to snazzy, but it would work perfectly well. Though the domain (also mentioned before) would not be MLC.com. But then again that would most likely have been taken already to begin with. However, if this is a viable solution I could have it up and running and modded by Cal in like a few minutes time. No problem at all :) (Oh and don't worry about not knowing php it's quite self explanatory I learned it by doing and virtually every forum on the net uses it so my guess is you already know it, all of you :) )

First of all, congratulations on being only a few steps away from finishing the virtually impossible (and becoming the second person in MLC to ever do so). However, that makes me feel bad because I'm so far behind... *falls on her knees* Forgive me! Please forgive me! Don't gang up with MrGBH and flog me! *cough* The main problem with WDC is that you have to pay to get a lot of the benefits. Unfortunately, if you're poor/too miserly to pay, you're gonna have a lot of problems. Could you give me information on GoogleDocs and GooglePages, though? I'm going to wait a bit before making the decision to move or not...
