In darkness I am immersed.
I can see no future.
I shall find no joyous path.
Thus I have been cursed.
In silence I now stand.
I can hear no hope.
I shall heed no happy promise
From this have I been banned
Upon the wind there is no scent.
I can smell no victory
I shall breathe no fortunate windfall.
Upon that fate I lament.
Upon my lips there is no taste.
I can receive no nourishment.
I shall savor no spice of life.
So it is, that I will waste.
My heart is frozen, my body numb.
I can feel no soothing warmth.
I shall perceive no passionate caress.
To the frigid apathy I succumb.
These senses I have lost,
for that was the price of love.
Without you near, there is little left.
I regret not the cost.
Nice. I like the semi-archaic theme and the conclusion.
i agree with what you're saying because i've fallen hard and sometimes i don't know what to do. it's like i know that i'm taking a big risk but i can't make myself forget about the guy. i really liked this poem cause it made me feel like you saw what i was thinking and wrote it down.
We pour all of ourselves into that thing we call love. When and if that love fails, we find that we have little left inside. It is a gamble. The prize is the greatest one of all, but the cost of failure are dear. So like fools we subject ourselves to the wheels of fate, in the hope we shall receive that most elusive and wonderous reward.
