Hee Jung Park's 'Fever' volume 1 shows it has the potential to be a very powerful series. Tackling difficult emotions, such as suicide, the storyline is moving but still manages to squeeze in humorous moments. What caught my eye, however, was the beautiful artwork. This manga is truly one for avid illustration lovers. 'Fever' develops incredibly individual characters through careful and realistic detail and creates entirely believeable environments around them. I find this quality almost vital in a really good manga as it enables you to sink entirely into the book, as if you were sitting on a park bench opposite the characters, observing them from within their world and feeling their thoughts and emotions as if they were real. The artwork, together with such an inspirational storyline, enables this bond between manag and reader to take place. A fabulous book, I reccomend it to everyone.
