Note from Princess Ai: Encounters Editor

Princess Ai: Encounters, somewhat like Rumors from the Other Side, was conceived as kind of an experiment. Instead of exploring how other characters within the series perceived Ai, this anthology explores what would happen if Ai met other characters from various TOKYOPOP series. The end result is something that really feels like a cool doujinshi anthology, believe it or not. It's clever and funny, occasionally out of control and over the top, and at times gorgeous and touching. The stories all stand alone, combining elements and characters from the creator's own series with Ai and co., featuring some really lovely explorations of both Ai's many facets, and some fantastic chapters where our talented artists got to strut their stuff in a context where anything is possible! It's a fun and fresh take on Ai, just in time for the new trilogy, Princess Ai: The Prism of Midnight Dawn, to launch in December.

Ordered more or less sequentially, some of the Encounters stories take place during the arc of the first trilogy, charting Ai's rise to international stardom, some take place after Ai has returned to Ai-Land to lead the Second Revolution, some...could take place any time, or never. The TOKYOPOP Universe is boundless, and we hope that fans enjoy the experience!

(P.S. There are a couple of little hints in this book for some of the events of in Princess Ai: Prism, and careful readers will be rewarded!)
