The Wallflower is a manga series running 19 volumes and beyond while the anime ended in March 2007.  The age rating is OT for 16+ for blood, near-nudity, or intense scenes.  This age rating pointed out isn't to say that readers 16+ are only allowed to read it but younger readers 13-15 (maybe even 12) can read it with maturity in mind. Blood appearing in the manga and anime is mostly the main character, Sunako, having major nosebleeds from just viewing the 4 handsome housemates living under a posh hostel. 

Sunako, a hopeless teenager who confessed to her first love, lived in darkness for two years since her rejection from her first love.  Before slipping into the darkness Sunako was once like any other girl to get the boy she wanted.  After the reclusive two years the heroine went through, her aunt, the landlady of the posh hostel, made a bet with 4 handsome teenage boys to turn Sunako into an elegant lady.  The bet was free rent for the boys while if failure came then the rent triples.  The gentlemen awaited for the "princess" to arrive and yet was shocked by Sunako's scary demeanor.  The journey for Sunako to become an elegant lady is long and hard as she struggles to change a part of herself and the boys to see the other side of reality unknown to them. 

The Wallflower  is truly a one-of-a-kind manga to give anyone the laughs of a horror-loving girl and the handsome boys clash to live in harmony.  This shojo story may seem like nothing of a sugary story because of Sunako trying to kill the girlfriend-less handsome boy name Takano Kyohei.  The anime is also something to check out with the only difference of skipping over parts of chapters and combining more than one chapter in a 25-minute episode.  Everything else but the anime downside is absolutely a must for those looking for a shojo series out of the ordinary.
