Eagle sprawled I now lay Till the Break of another day
As my body ever so slowly swelters and Sinks into the ground
So that I may never be found
I died in Iraq, ain’t never coming back
comrade said he had my back but he caught some flack and that’s the fact
He fell to into the pile of residue that was our crew
Yeah we died in Iraq and that is a fact, there ain’t no going back.
They said we’d be held in the highest honor,
As the president spoke of our great service that honored our nation,
Using manipulation to grip every nation with a sensation of heart felt pride and admiration so that he could cover the brutality of the reality of warfare.
Oh my mother and all the others will weep in
Remembrance of all the years that have come and gone,
Thinking to themselves that the blow came to soon that we should
Have never faced this impending doom.
But we were proud to serve our nation with heart felt consideration
Cause we knew the risks; we risked it all so that we might see babes rest
Their sleepy heads upon their mother’s breast and so that our families
Could rest easily with no thought of threats from outside our united nation.
All will weep when dressed in black for a ceremony with out
A body, tears will be spilt even a few out of guilt,
Memories will be brought up to give the grieving peace
And tranquility after the misfortune
Of losing their loved one.
But all too soon this too will pass
And the memory of me will ever so slowly fade away
For a soldier never dies but fades ever so slowly away
So that a dawn can rise on a brand new day.
this is dedicated to all our soldiers, then, now, and forever more.
