EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION
Morgan Luthi entered TOKYOPOP's Rising Stars of Manga like a billion times. The poor guy was met with repeated rejection. But did Morgan put down his pencil and give up? No! He kept at it. He drew on the backs of shovels with coal, he walked uphill both ways in freezing rain, and he cut down a cherry tree and didn't lie about it. Every contest, he would submit a brand-new story. And at long last, his billionth entry, "Seed," was a runner-up in Rising Stars of Manga Volume 5.

Morgan's persistence really paid off. Not only did his artistic ability grow exponentially with each submission, but seeing that progress convinced me that Morgan was ready to write and illustrate his very own manga. And I am proud to say that manga is Snow.

The second I saw Morgan's concept sketches for Snow, I was hooked. His Warmonger designs were so clean and simple...yet they were visually spectacular. Take a look at the cover for Snow. See that? That's what I'm talkin' about. That's some arresting design, kids.

His other sketches flat-out made me laugh. Wait until you see his space pirates and bounty hunters! They are quirky, unusual, and have that inventive Morgan Luthi style!

Snow's story is deceptively simple, but I'm certain it will pay off in ways you might not expect. It's full of little touches that will hopefully resonate in big ways. So, what's Snow about, you ask?

Morgan Luthi
Born in San Francisco, CA in the winter of 1980, freelance artist Morgan Luthi was raised by a pack of cave-dwelling misfit robots and fed a steady diet of cartoons, video games, and comic books. Morgan's story Seed was a recent runner-up in TOKYOPOP's Rising Stars of Manga Volume 5.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Snow:
Snow is a good-hearted young man who arrives on the icy planet Hub in the hopes of starting a new life. Although Snow seems rather naive, the scar across his face suggests a dangerous past.

The Warmongers:
The Warmongers are the most feared force in the galaxy, and rightfully so. They are gigantic and imposing, and terror is always reflected in their dark, metallic hides. The Warmongers are masters of grand design, hell-bent on complete domination through force and nefarious technologies. And their latest creation is their most wicked weapon yet: The Ghost of Destruction!

The Ghost:
A living weapon created by the Warmongers. Humanoid in appearance, The Ghost looks like a pale boy...until he unleashes his deadly powers. A whirlwind of annihilation, The Ghost is capable of leveling entire planets! And one by one, worlds are crumbling under The Ghost's wrath!

Katarina:
Leader of a vigilante gang called The Crows, Katarina was raised on the street. Although she can be extremely forward and brash, she doesn't lead with an iron fist. Katarina tends to mother the other members of The Crows. Her extremely protective nature makes her an intimidating presence. Her one goal on Hub is to put SSCAB out of business.

SSCAB:
SSCAB (The Space Syndicate of Criminals, Assassins and Bandits) is made up of the nastiest space pirates to ever set foot on Hub. The numerous gangs on Hub all answer to SSCAB, meaning a huge portion of Hub is under their control. It has always been the goal of The Crows to overthrow SSCAB, but stopping them one gang at a time just doesn't seem to work.
