A Haunting Melody
This is my first experience with the paranormal. At the time I didn't know what had happened but now I do.

I was about seven or eight years old at the time. My half-sister Amanda, who was about five, and I were sharing my room. My mother had come up the stairs and told us it was time for bed. We lay down and were talking about miscellaneous things. We then tried to go to sleep, but for some reason Amanda could not sleep. She got up and said she was going downstairs with my mother. I rolled onto my back unable to go to sleep. I was staring at the ceiling when I heard a soft organ playing coming from the corner across from my door or in front of and to the left of my bed. I turned to it and it started getting louder. I shouted to my mother to turn the TV down. She yelled back up that the TV wasn’t on. I quickly became terrified. I became paralyzed with fear. The music swelled over my petrified panting. Then it suddenly stopped. I jumped out of my bed and fled downstairs to my mother. I began to tell her in a garble of words what had happened. She said that there was no music and I was probably dreaming. I tried to tell her that I hadn’t even fallen asleep so how could I be dreaming. She refused to answer so I lay on the couch. Amanda was already lying down and I told her what happened. She said she believed me. I was still scared. When my mom told us she was going to bed I tried to follow her into her room. She told me to go to my own bed. I told her I was still scared. She sighed like she was annoyed and said she would let me lay with her until she started to fall asleep. Amanda came too because she didn’t want to be alone either. When my mom started to fall asleep she turned her TV off and told Amanda and me to go to bed. We cautiously started to walk back to my room. Amanda asked me if I still heard the music and I said no. We got into bed and Amanda fell asleep quickly. I lay listening to her breathing and wondered what had happened. I never did fall asleep, and I avoided my room for a while when I was alone.
