BWAHAHA TP 2.5 in the works
Yesterday myself and other key players of TP Online sat down for a grueling 9 hour meeting to hammer out what we should do with TOKYOPOP.com The fans will be happy to know that we all had your guys' interests in mind, and that I was especially pulling for you with the feed back I've been collecting from blog posts, e-mails, messages and more about the site. After all, I'm a web community person, I've got your back ~_^
Now I make no promises that these things will happen. But I would personally bet money that they will in the very near future.
Things we have plans for:
- Better navigation with roll over 2nd level nav, and even possibly a 3rd level roll over nav, this will make it so it's 1 click to get where you want to go, also we'll be renaming tabs to have ti make more sense. After all shouldn't there be like a Manga tab? We're all about manga :)
- Better Online manga pages with nifty preview type things that you can then enlarge to read. Aren't you sick of having to launch the manga player only to discover its an art style you hate? With these niftly little previews you'll be able to tell right away if you want to read that manga ^_^
- A better shop section, you've been shouting for it and we don't blame you. We'll be drastically renovating the shop section so it's easier to find stuff, and even has related items.
- You know how you hate how all of the main pages look the same? We're redesigning them so they're unique to their own section with content specifically relevant to that area. It's going to be smexy and much more informative!
- Instant messaging on the site and also mass improvement of the private e-mail like system we've got in place. It's awful how it is now, we totally agree.
Smaller stuff:
- Themes (skins) for your profiles. We're going to start out with a few and go from there, we're also probably going to eventually have customizable themes so you can pick and choose your own colors. We're also looking at making it so you can embed videos, music and what not that you upload into TP on your profile. Yay embedded goodness!
- Advanced search function for genres, adult only content and that type of stuff, also we'll be improving that quick search so the filters are applied right away as opposed to after your search results. We'll be making it so you can select your section for the site to search in as well.
- Flagging will be enabled even if you're not logged into the site. (that way you cna flag things and not get put on the "visiting stars" list) And we're adding radio buttons they are defaulted as not selected for every art submission form to make it so you have to choose either adult only, or all ages. You will not be able to submit ANYTHING without selecting one of the two buttons. This will make people more aware that they need to mark their stuff, and they'll be a warning about penalties for not marking their content.
I really want you guys to know that we're aware of the porn situation and we're serious about getting it taken care of.
- You won't have to be logged in to TP to read more then 6 pages of Online manga anymore.
There's a lot more things that we talked about but that's just off the top of my head. I'm so excited about all of it. This is going to make TOKYOPOP Online what you guys have been aching for and waiting for.

I like the idea of skins. It'll be great to have more unique Stars pages. Also, could you do something about the tags? Tags with multiple words don't seem to work. Will that be fixed with TP 2.5?
I like the old website better. It was easyer to get around. My friend has a profile on this website that she doesnt' go on that often because it's confusing for her. I have three profiles (this is one of them) and tokyopop.com is fun. But the old website was better. We got to but pictures on our profile page.

It's been mentioned before, but i can't agree with you enough about the flagging whilst logged off. It's the main reason people don't flag, so it'll ba great. And if we do get previews for fiction, can we still keep our little pictures on the front? It looks so cute having a picture relevant to each fiction.
Wow, this sounds really great! Although I appreciate everything, for some reason the profile-customization sounds like a really good idea. We all look so much alike, it's easy to get kind of lost I guess. I like that each 'sub page' will now have its own design, although I hope it won't get TOO carried away. :) The radio-buttons sound like a very simple but highly logical solution....wish I'd thought of that myself. @_@; Also glad we can flag without having to log in...both for the sake of not appearing on the list, and as well, anyone with public-access who wants to help make it non-viewable to the public.
Hmm the Clan Lord specific bulletin board is an intriguing idea but I'll have to add it to a later list, we've got so much stuff we're doing @_@ I'll poke around to see how hard it'd be to give you a fiction section that's like the blogs for previews, and also I'll make a note of an off switch/away message for IM settings :) Great feed back people!
This almost sound too good to be true. But with you working on things, I know some of them will be implemented quickly and others rolled out in stages. The IM sounds awesome. I just hope you have an off button for news gathers like me. I sometime check TP while signed in so I can make comments on some of the things I read. Turning off the IM with a little message would be great. And thanks for the Flagging from being logged off. I hate leaving my name on those pages. This get a pop and more from me.
Sounds truly awesome! But your evil laugh needs work. (~_^) I agree with NearlyMello; is there some way that we can have a feature to preview fiction? The other thing that I would really like is a bulletin board specifically for the clanlord, or some sort of "clan announcements" section. I've been using the "clan greeting" section instead... Will the site go down again when all this is updated?
Nice, but I'd really like to see a fic-preveiw feature similar to the way prose items are handled on DeviantArt. The little thumbnail just doesn't really... well, it's eh. At least make it so that more than the title get displayed, mabye the description. And PLEEEAAAASSSEEEE change the filter to stars or symbols or just SOMETHING!!! It annoys me so bad that I have to go and use the find tool to scope out every word and change it to stars before I post something.
