For hidaman's birthday, he's requested a pot luck dinner based around a half-hearted joke "ramen-dan" an all ramen dinner celebration! It's a cute idea! And surely the noodles are flexible enough to shoehorn them into just about everything. My initial ideas were to make a cheesecake with crushed noodle crust. This wasn't a bad idea, but since it's his birthday, birthday cake is in order instead of cheesecake. I'm trying to avoid falling in to something predictable like soup or ___ over noodles. I used to make fried noodles too, but those have to be fresh out of the pan to be any good.

So, I've gone poking around for recipes. Here are some I've found intriguing:
Porcupine meatballs using ramen noodles instead of rice
Ramen snack mix (like Chex Mix only ramen-style!)
Shepherd's Pie with ramen instead of potato topping
Ramen mayo salad
any number of salads with ramen used as croutons or garnish

I'm trying to avoid anything that's overwhelmingly noodley (I know it's the feature of the dinner, but I'd rather make it an inclusion. This isn't Iron Chef.) We have at least one confirmed diabetic in our group and most likely several candidates XD I'd like to avoid a carb coma if I can manage it.

Besides, there will be cake.

Ideas involving making dry ramen into candies or desserts keep coming up. That's counteractive to the whole avoiding massive carbs things, but I can't shake the notion.

This will require more deliberation.
