Review of "Comic Party"
Review Type: Manga & Anime
UFSman's Rating: 4 of 5

Ahh Comic Party. The great thing about manga is reading about stuff you wouldn’t normally read about. One of my favourite things to read about is the amateur manga stage. This is probably why Dramacon is one of my favourite manga, I’ve always want to hear and read more about how manga is made. Probably because I would love to make my own manga, but my drawing skills and self confidence stops me. It’s a bit hard to find out about making your own manga here in England, so reading a manga about making manga is great way to learn about how start out.

Kazuki has a talent for art, but after failing to get into an art collage. he looks for another way to become an artist. So his crazy friend Taishi. Introduces him to the world of doujinshi. (Also known by some as amateur manga.) At a convention known as Comic Party. Soon Kazuki’s is inspired by the passion and the ideals people put into making their manga and decides to put is own ideals and passion into making his own manga, but his girlfriend (or at least I think she’s his girl friend) Mizuki really doesn’t want him to turn into an Otaku fan boy. (Someone who might be consider to have unhealthily obsession with manga) she thinks manga and anime is for kids (god does she need to change her attitude.) but he goes against his girl friends wishes and with a bit of help from his questionably sane friend Taishi. (even know I do question how much help he has actually been to him) he decides to makes his first manga to show off to everyone at the next comic party, but he’ll soon find out that making and producing manga is not as easy as it seems. But he’ll soon be joined by new friends who share the same ideals and passion about manga as he does and are happy to help out.

I actually had to learn a few new Japanese words in order to understand this manga better, and I love the craziness of Taishi, his world domination by manga ideas, and his computer game jokes, have countlessly made me laugh out aloud on many occasions and makes him my favourite character in this manga and any manga so far.

Comic Party is loaded with loads of characters who express their ideals and passion about manga in funny ways. That, plus the jokes, while trying to explain some of the real life problems people have when they first start to make manga makes it very enjoyable read, but by comic party loses a point due the lack of romance.

There are loads of good jokes like the fake moustache dance is just one of my favourite. It’s actually very hard to say which parts are my favourite in just the fist volume alone so all this plus what I mention before makes me love to read more Comic Party, just to see what Taishi does next and if Mizuki can avoid killing him for it, if her friends don’t beat her to the punch.

I give comic party a funny 4 out of 5. I have volumes 1-4 of Comic Party and the first anime series which isn’t bad, even knows it runs along a slightly different story from the manga, I’ve been told the next series is great, known as Comic Party Revolution, which looks to be way up on the laugh meter from what I’ve seen.  Thanks for reading review please feel free to read my other reviews and blogs on anime and manga.
