Evening Star

Evening Star, Oh how lovely are thee.

A jewel shining brightly in the heavens,

Bringing joy to those you shine upon,

Bringing hope to those who have none.

You guide those who are lost in the darkness,

And bring them to the light.

You bless them with love of eternal,

And they take comfort in what you give them.

As time alters the world, you remain as always you were,

An image of the splendor of light and love,

Undimmed by the passage of time.

Evening Star, Oh how lovely are thee.


This Poem is published in the latest poetry book from Poetry.com and has received the Editor's Choice Award. I can't believe the recognition its received, considering it was something I wrote when I was 17, bored out of my mind in Debate class.
