As we were wrapping up Kat & Mouse Vol. 2, it became apparent that the cover concept we had initially planned on using wasn't going to work. Federica had submitted an illustration, that while compelling and visually interesting in its own right, didn't really work as a cover. (It's here in this gallery and is entitled "The Unused Cover," if you'd like to see it.) The problem was that Federica was up against her deadline and didn't really have time to brainstorm, sketch and finish a new cover. Our solution? Well, fortunately, Federica had provided us with an assortment of chapter break illlustrations that we weren't going to be able to use in this volume (many of which are also in this gallery). We took two of those and mocked up some covers as alternatives. One of them became our current Vol. 2 cover. The other is below, and it's still in a rough state. While I think it's an appropriate cover for the volume, Alex and I didn't like that Kat is facing away from the camera with her face obscurred.
