The title says it all! I've watched both series and i can tell you why...


Lets start with the background story...

the shadow games- A boy named yugi is given a puzzle by his grandfather. yugi solves the puzzle as a challenge he set himself. When his friends get attacked by a bully from school... yugi finally finishes the puzzle and he gains the power of darkness. from then on more crinimals test the power of the puzzle and get what those bastards deserve!!!!

4kids version- A boy named yugi solves his milenium before the series even starts. A huge craze in school is card games. Before long Yugi finds out that this DESTINY is to save the world from "psyko card game obsessed morons (not including bakura)" He also finds out that the spirit from his milenium puzzle was once a PHAROAH and he's back to save the world once again!!! at the end when all the mentalists are out of the way... yugi puts all of the milenium items back to their original place... but before the spirit goes back to where he belongs... he has to play a CARD GAME with yugi! and lose!!!

i apoligise to fans of 4kids but which plot sounded better to u??? card games or shadow games (which are random)???

i prefer the shadow games... because it is more interesting to me. let me back up...

example 1) episode of the shadow games series... when a bandit has been robbing valuables around town... the police identifies the bandit as the burger restaurant owner. Yugi and his friends were involved while they were just having a couple of burgers to eat (mmmm) otherwise just working in the restaurant. the bandit takes one of yugi's friends hostage... sooo yugi's alter ego appears to settle things by testing the bandit in a shadow game which would show the bandits true personality.

example 2) episode of the shadow games series... A watch collector steals a watch that doesn't belong to him because it's missing from his collection!! yugi's alter ego challenges the watch collector to a shadow game to see who is worthy of keeping the watch. and if a guy steals sumthing that doesn't belong to him... he has to pay! muhahaha yami (yugi's alter ego) is soo evil lol

now heres examples of the 4kids version...

episode 82-84) yami versus bakura (evil guy) in a card game... yami wins.

episode 138-142) yami versus marik (another evil guy) and yami wins.

see a difference?? i sure did... i had to write more in the shadow games series!!! lol!!!

The characters!!! now heres the interesting part!!!

now lets see... Yugi!

shadow games series- yugi starts as a really shy person who doesn't interact with anyone much. He thinks that the puzzle is magical and hopes that solving the puzzle would grant his wish... which was to meet more friends. As the series goes on... he really contributes to helping his friends anyway he can.

4kids- yugi starts with his friends at the beginning. He's a helpless little boy, whenever he is in trouble, his alter ego takes over to sort it out for him! everytime!!!!! unless yami isn't around but that happens rarely.

Now my fav! bakura!!!

shadow games series- bakura is cursed to bare the millenium ring where an evil spirit plots evilness (note. the only few episodes i've seen of evil bakura is in japanese with no subs so i dont kno why he does what i'm about to explain) evil bakura taunts poor bakura and threatens his friends while playing a game of capsule monsters. during this time there had been news of people mysteriously disappearing at bakura's old school before he was transferred into yugi's class. in this series it shows more of how much bakura really suffers under the control of the evil spirit.

4kids- bakura that had been transferred into yugi's class still has the millenium ring and the evil spirit (called yami bakura). but yami bakura plots to gather all 7 of the millenium items to have the greatest power in the world inwhich he summons ZORC with.... a monster which distroys the world... until yami kills it.

not to mention yami is more evil looking and sounding in the shadow games version. Muhahahaha!

In the shadow games series... tristan/honda has a girl that he fancies. i think this is very fitting to tristan/honda as it gives him more of a role in the series, a comedy role! hehe. whereas in the 4kids version, he's mostly just in the background.

Overall i think that the shadow games series is better than the 4kids version. plz comment

NOTE: I DONT WANT HATE LETTERS SAYING ABOUT ME DISSING THE 4KIDS VERSION... ITS ALL MY OPINION AND COMPARISON TO THE SHADOW GAMES SERIES.
