I thought this might be an interesting topic for discussion: Is knowing how to use CAD (computer-aided design) software essential for comic artists? A teacher was making a big deal about my answer on a worksheet that said that use of machinery, etc. wasn't essential for my career choice. I told her that I prefer the 'old-school' hands-on drawing, but she wouldn't let it go. >_< Please feel free to reply to this topic or start a new one concerning sequential art on the bulletin board.
For all you aspiring, as well as professional, manga-ka, I decided to post this info. Basically, make a 12 to 50 page manga, written in your native language and mail it to Kodansha. The winner gets a cash prize, plus you get to talk with Japanese editors AND a chance to get published, if my understanding is correct. Here is the official website, which is in a few different languages for your convenience. The editors hope that they can hold this twice a year, and the deadline for this one is December 31st. http://e-morning.jp/mimc/
Thursray thru Sunday, I'll be on vacation so I won't be able to process clan requests until Monday or Tuesday. Please continue to upload your artwork, members! Also, at Gencon, Indianapolis, Some artists will be reviewing portfolios. Thought it might be worth mentioning for an Artists' clan. 'Til the world ends! :P
Thanx 4 accepting me, I 'm going to upload loads of illustrations to show me gratefulness!!! Kidding, I'm doing this because of vanity. :-) For the time being, you can check them out on my profile.
Welcome to Artists Unite, the clan for devoted ameteur, or better, artists! Just to kick things off 'officially', I posted this to welcome everyone viewing or joining my clan. I hope we can soon make it OUR clan. Have fun!
