TOKYOPOP is in search of a Marketing/Sales executive to manage and build our brands, and our sales and marketing efforts. S/he will develop large-scale profit producing alliances between TOKYOPOP and various retail channels and other alternative channels.  The executive will formulate, initiate, negotiate, and manage key partner relationships for the company. The Vice-President will oversee management of company brand’s licensees and will work with merchandise agents to build out a complete retail program for major brands.   This role will ensure achievement of maximum profitability and growth through planning and execution.  The VP Sales and Marketing is an Executive level position, reporting directly to the Publisher and will be an integral member of the management team that will work closely with all aspects of the company.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop overall company sales, marketing, and brand management goals and objectives
  • Development of marketing/brand plans and positioning strategies
  • Oversee development of company brand management programs and ensure adherence to corporate goals
  • Oversee new market development, analyze and develop new markets and market segments; help define the products and features necessary to maximize market share
  • Ability to seek opportunities and synergies with partners, other product lines, etc.
  • Communicate a sales vision for company that clearly defines how the sales organization will meet and exceed the corporate goals
  • Direct creation of the annual strategic/tactical brand and marketing plans and then follow up to ensure goals are met
  • Work with Publisher, VP Group Finance and channel partners to establish and ensure achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual  sales targets
  • Identify, implement and manage key business relationships
  • Ensure cost-effective & productive management of creative, media, advertising, and promotion budgets
  • Take an active role in developing people of all levels;  includes assessing skill sets, defining rolls and expectations by job title and experience, and setting goals and measuring them
  • Ability to manage teams at all levels

 

Skills/Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience in Brand/Marketing/Sales management ideally in a consumer products or entertainment environment
  • Proven ability in working with brand licenses and developing complete retail programs
  • Experience building and working with franchises
  • Proven ability to develop new businesses, open new sales channels and to forge key profitable relationships
  • Strong knowledge of P&L management; ability to forecast and develop budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and monitor annual plans
  • Ability to thrive on change and operate in a dynamic, early stage company environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with strategic partners at executive levels
  • MBA and familiarity with Japanese culture preferred, but not required
  • Strong understanding of technology
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
