Katakana is used for foreign names and loan words yes. Loan words are words taken from another language and used in Japanese. Examples are konpyuutaa (Computer), terebi (Television) rajio (Radio) Kamera (Camera), etc. Katakana is also used sometimes in Japanese advertising and onomatopoeia, so we write 'meow' for the sound of a cats meow, A Japanese would write Nyaun, but in the Katakana script.

HiHi. aw lol okay. desu does mean is/are etc. hiragana is used for writing Japanese names and things BUT so is kanji and kanji takes priority, so kanji will be used, and if someone forgets the kanji for a word, they can use the hiragana. However since as beginners don't know kanji hiragana is used to write in Japanese. Japanese schoolchildren do not learn kanji in their first year, they learn kana (hiragana and katakana) and write with that only.

That's only the first 5 pages, if i remember correctly there are 30 pages total. Yes, I do like to write, the main thing I would like is to put it all in Manga, or animation. I have about 10 other stories. You should read it anyway, it's good.
