Inuyasha groaned as he saw Kagome leap into Koga’s arms, who was waiting for her by is car. What made Koga so special? Why would she put up with the shit he forces her to go through?

The silver haired demon has known that Koga was an abusive man to have as a boyfriend. He was demanding, impatient, and incredibly protective. Inuyasha knew from Kagome’s scent everyday at school that he would force himself on her every night.

He learned of their secret a few months ago when he caught Kagome in the girl’s bathroom applying heavy makeup. The eye she hadn’t covered up yet was black and blue. He had tried to force it out of her, but she said she loved Koga too much.

And he found that to be a lie yet again, when he kissed her that afternoon.

Now Inuyasha stood alone, just like always, seeing the couple hug and kiss as though there was nothing wrong with it.

He began to feel nauseous when Koga smiled at her, running his hand up and down her thin back. She had lost weight since she and Inuyasha met in freshman year. They were now in senior year. He wanted him to stop touching her; she didn’t deserve to be as tainted as he now made her out to be.

“…Kagome! Hey, Kagome!! Can I talk to you?!” Inuyasha called to her, gritting his teeth.

Kagome looked up to Koga with big and sad eyes. “…Please? I haven’t talked to him in forever! And you know we’re only friends,” she begged.

Koga glared at her, and then at Inuyasha. “I swear if I see any touching, both of your heads will roll,” he threatened in her ear, letting her go.

“Thank you…” she whispered, bouncing toward Inuyasha. “What’s up?”

Inuyasha grimaced. “…You know what.” He pulled on her arm, taking them around the school pillar out of view of Koga. The half demon leaned in close to her. “…Every look he gives you, I get sicker…and sicker. Whenever he touches you, I wanna rip his arms off. And…every time I see you smile with him, I just want to disappear.”

“…Inuyasha, I’m…flattered by what you feel for me, but…” she hesitated. “I love Koga.”

“No, you don’t,” he said. He was in great denial, smiling oddly now, “See, see…you kissed me back that afternoon when I kissed you. That proves that you feel something for me. You HAVE to.” He was literally going crazy because of her.

“I’m sorry…I just didn’t want to hurt your feelings,” she lied, not looking him in his molten lava orbs. She knew she would get lost in them, and she couldn’t afford that with Koga so close by.

“No, no…you couldn’t have…you can’t love him…” Inuyasha repeated, pressing her against the concrete wall. She cringed; he hit a bruise she had recently obtained from a few nights ago. He caressed her cheek, forehead and chin. When he looked at his thumb, there were traces of coverup on it. “See? You see what he does to you?”

“It’s nothing, Inuyasha…”

“No, it’s not. He could go to jail for this. And I might JUST do that…’cause I am getting sick and f***ing tired of you getting hurt for his sick, perverted wants,” he hissed.

“It’s never gonna happen again,” she said defiantly, finally looking right at him.

As she ran back to Koga, he opened the door to the passenger side of his car. He drove off quickly, neither of them in the car bothering to look back at the crestfallen Inuyasha. They arrived at Koga’s house, and he did not look happy.

“Koga, I want you to know that…” she began.

“Shut up and get inside,” he snapped.

She nodded obediently, and quickly rushed to the front door. He had soon caught up with her and pushed on her back.

“I said to get inside!” he roared. “Get in…get IN!!!” he pushed her hard this time, her balance escaping her. She collapsed to the ground, her face planted into the grass. He was immediately hovering over her, blocking out the sunlight. “Get your skanky bottom up!!!” he kicked her legs until she scrambled to her feet, opening the door for him.

“It’s…it’s not as bad as Inuyasha puts…It…doesn’t even matter to me anymore…” she thought, tears stinging her eyes.

“Get me some beer,” he demanded, as he put his feet up on the coffee table and turning on the TV.

“What?” she asked. “I didn’t hear you, I’m sorry…”

“I said to get me some f***ing beer, dammit!!” he shouted.

“O-Oh…” she trembled, opening the refrigerator and grabbing a cold beer bottle for him. She slid across the hardwood floor and handed it to him.

He opened it and began to down the alcoholic beverage.

“I’m in for it now…Koga gets mean when he’s drunk,” she thought. “…I, I think I’ll go to bed early today. I had to do a lot today,” she said, trying to escape his wrath.

“I don’t think so. Get your bottom over here,” he ordered, slapping the seat next to him.

She didn’t answer in response; she just seated herself next to him. She bent her knees up to her chest and squished her arms together. She was shaking; her whole body was going through a terrible tremor state. She was horrified of what he was going to do to her.

“Koga, I really think I should get some sleep…you don’t want me to go without my beauty sleep, right?” she tried to make light of the situation.

“I don’t think so. And I’m always right. So you better just f***ing sit there and look pretty. But you aren’t doin’ that too well these days,” he said absentmindedly.

Kagome felt a stake go through her heart. He didn’t even think she was pretty. “…I should have listened to Inuyasha…I’m so scared…” she sat on her hands just so Koga didn’t see her shivering.

As he flipped through the channels, began to get frustrated with finding nothing to watch. “That’s it. Get in bed. Even better, we’re goin’ to a hotel,” he said, throwing his beer away and gripping her bruised arm tightly and tossing her in the direction of the door.

“On a school night?” she asked.

“Don’t correct me. Now get to the f***ing car!!” he growled, stealing a wad of money from his father’s pocket. “Get, I said!!! You goddamn w****!!! Get in the car!!!” he screamed, stalking her until she got outside. Rain tore down on the ground hard and fast. “Get!! Get!! You aren’t movin’ fast enough!!” he came up behind her, slamming into her back, making her to fall to the drenched earth.

Kagome’s cheek landed right into a puddle of mud, dirt and wet grass covering her face. She came up, her eyes clouded as she touched her stained skin. She started to rub the dirt off her face helplessly, not looking at him.

“What the hell are you doin’ down there?!”

“I’m fine…This doesn’t hurt,” she craned her neck to smile at him. Her cheek was still grazed with dirt and filth. Her smile faded, seeing him looking bored. “…I’ve had enough.”

Face down in the dirt, she said,

“What’d you say to me?” he asked, pulling her up to face him.

“I have had enough Koga! I can’t keep going on like this!” she cried over the pouring rain.

Koga was speechless. He never thought his woman would betray him…not after everything he’s done for her. “You think you can just walk out?!”

“I can…and I am!!” she shouted, snatching her arm away from him and twisting her body around. She ran blindly through the heaven sent water, the droplets stinging her flesh as she lashed through it. She knew he would be on her tail any second now; she knew she could never escape him.

She could sure as hell try.

The rain let up some on her, allowing her to pace herself. She slowed and found herself at the apartment complex Inuyasha lived in. “I swear I’ve got a guardian angel…” she thought as she walked up to Inuyasha’s place, ringing on the doorbell.

“Kagome?!” she heard him shout through the wooden door. The door swung open, revealing a terrified Inuyasha. He ushered her inside, giving her a towel.

She looked horrible. She was covered in dirt, mud, grass, and water. Her usual smiling face was replaced with one of a dazed and scared woman. She was pale as a ghost as she wiped the dirt off of her face.

“Kagome…what happened? What about Koga?” he asked gently, sitting next to her on a sofa.

The raven haired girl shook her head, the tears suddenly rushing out. As she retold what had just occurred between her and Koga, she recalled how she never really loved him. She just wanted to make him happy, and to do that, she would sell herself to him. But then she realized that she had to take care of herself more, and to do that, she had to be with Inuyasha.

“I’m sorry…I’m so sorry I didn’t realize it before…” she pleaded, letting him wrap his arms around her. “I…I just…” she sobbed into his chest, clinging to the back of his shirt.

“It’s okay, Kagome…you’re okay now…” he soothed her with his words, knowing how little they may mean.

“I know I am…it’s because you’re here…and…” she smiled weakly, her energy spent. “…I finally had enough.”

Face down in the dirt, she said,
