Rin Miyazaki glanced out the window of the large bus.  They passed a man peddling a bicycle.  She barely caught a glimpse of him as they sped past.  Next to Rin sat her friend Asuka Sasaki.  She was one of the most popular girls and school.  She was dating Takeru Ito.  Who was sitting in the back asleep.  His head gently lying against the glass window.  Takeru was the runner of a gang at their school Kakamigahara junior high school.  It wasn’t like most gangs, but rather the opposite they usually helped people.  Whether it was when other schools tried to bully other students or helping them when they needed it.  Takeru was also the most popular boy at the school as well as being most athletic, and the smartest.  He was also a gifted martial artist, and had been studying since he was little.  In general he was perfect.  Which explained why so many girls liked him Right next to Takeru sat Kai Nishima.  He had long black hair that he parted in the center and had a handsome face.  Kai and Takeru had been best friends for a long time, and was a very nice person.  He socialized with everyone no matter who they were so a lot of people liked him.  He was also the boy that Rin was secretly in love with.  Asuka once had pressured her into asking him out, but he left school early that day, and she hadn’t gotten the chance since.  Kai did pretty averagely in everything though.  In sports he wasn’t last, but he wasn’t the best either, and when it came to school he also wasn’t very impressive.  There was a rumor that he also liked her but she didn’t think it was possible.  Even though Rin was herself a very pretty and rather attractive girl she never thought much of herself.  Even when she used to do gymnastics and almost won a nationwide tournament.  “Why don’t you go sit by Kai?”  Asked Asuka as she glanced over her shoulder.  Rin looked to the back of the bus.  Kai was talking and laughing with Hiroshi Fujiwara the class clown and another of Takeru’s gang.  Ryota Sato glanced back from the front of the bus back at the sleeping Takeru.  Next to him his girlfriend Jun Arai had her arms draped around his neck.  “Look, how bout I go switch seats with Kai.  Then you can be with him, and I can be by Takeru.”  She smiled big as she got up “everyone wins”  before she could make it far their teacher Hideo Genda a strongly built man of 36 who already had a full head of grey hair blocked her path and glared at her.  He flicked his head towards her seat, and she went back sulking.  Rin laughed when Asuka sat back down.  Rins face turned red as she saw Kai walk passed her and sit in a vacant front seat next to Iwao Yamada.  Iwao was playing a small handheld video game when Kai sat down.  He glanced up smiled and his head jerked back down.  Kai leaned over his shoulder to see the screen “You’re in my light man!”  Iwao yelled jokingly, Kai leaped up into the aisle and tried to look as frightened as he could then smiled and sat back down.  “This is the new one right?”  Asked Kai as he stared at the screen over his shoulder “Yeah I just got it.  Do you want to try?”  “Ok.”  Kai took the controller and leaned back in the chair.  His fingers jumped from button to button controlling his character.

                As Kai made his way to the back of the bus he fell slightly, thanks to an outstretched leg in the aisle.  He glanced up to see the shaved head and scared face of Kiyoshi Ono “watching what your f***ing doing klutz.”  Kai smiled as he brushed himself off, “I’ll be sure to do that.  I wouldn’t want to get hurt.”  Kiyoshi’s hand balled up into a fist, but before he could do that he felt something cold pressed against his back.  He turned his head slightly.  Standing behind him with a survival knife pressed against his back was Susumu Tanaka.  Susumu was another member of Takeru’s gang and was more than happy to jump into a fight.  “You ok Kai?  That was some fall you took.”  Susumu said in a joking manor.  “Yep I’m fine.  Just an accident.”  Kai slipped past him, and him and Susumu slipped back into the back of the bus by Takeru who was awake now.  Kai slid in next to him “sleep ok?”  He asked, Takeru merely nodded and looked back out the window.

                Rin looked at her watch.  It was 10:45 at night.  She looked over at Asuka who was leaning against her asleep.  She glanced back Kai and Takeru as well as the other members of the gang were fast asleep.  Everyone on the bus was except for her.  Come to think of it I’m kinda sleepy to she thought to herself.  She looked forward.  The bus driver was wearing a black mask.  It had a long hose the circled around his chair into a metal tank by his feet.  That was the last thing Rin saw as everything went dark and then nothing.

                Rin felt heavy, she rubbed her eyes sleepily.  She looked around the darkened classroom.  Why am I at school she thought?  She was still feeling drowsy.  The windows were covered with what looked like thick metal plates.  Light passed through cracks in the plates.  The other 41 students all lay at their desks.  Kai sat in the back on the far right with his head on his desk and arms hung limply at his sides.  At the front desk a thin wiry man sat.  He was sitting on top of the desk and was wearing a thick set of glasses that hung slightly off his face, and his hair was slicked back.  He was wearing a T shirt and some cut off jeans and sandals.  Rin slowly rolled her head around, her neck felt surprisingly stiff.  Then she felt it as the icy cold metal touched her shoulder.  She reached up alarmed.  There was something wrapped around her neck.  She ran her fingers along the smooth metal surface of the collar.  As she looked around frightened she noticed the other students had them too.  The man smiled as the other students began to awake from their deep sleeps “Rise and shine!”  He yelled making the class jump.  “Are you ready to kill each other?!”  He said it so cheerfully that it had to be a joke.  The whole room stared back at him with a look of confusion and fear.
