When you’re close to me,
Close enough to
Look into my eyes,
To see your reflection,
To see deeply into them,
I ask,
What do you see?
Do you see the loneliness
That surrounds me?
Do you see the darkness
That I’m in?
Do you see the sorrow
That haunts me?
The tears that want
To come out?
The words I want to say
But I can’t?
The thoughts I’ve had
Of leaving this world?
The times I’ve asked
Myself ‘what am I doing here’?
And above this,
Do you see how much
I need someone special?
Someone who cares about me?
Who thinks about me?
Who can be there for me?
Who can bring a smile to my face?
Who can help me face
My past, my present, and my future?
Who can give me
One reason to be here?
Who can hold my hand
And never let go of it?
Someone who can say
With all his mind and heart
‘I Love You’?
