I sighed walking into the school building. I could tell this was going to be a long day. I never had to be the new girl before. I found my classes just fine. It came to lunch and I sat alone not really eating. I text Greg, Shawn, Conner, and Eric, my band members, and told them I was settled in and not to worry. My eyes drifted around the room. They came to a stop on five people sitting alone. There were two girls and three guys. One girl was tall, slender with long golden hair. The other was extremely thin, her hair black and short. The first boy was big, muscular and had curly dark hair. The second was taller, leaner but still muscular and had honey blonde hair. The third was lanky, less bulky, more boyish with bronze colored, untidy hair. I automatically picked up on their pale skin. My heart started to race. The youngest more boyish one suddenly looked at me glaring. I stood quickly. He turned to the short haired girl and whispered something very fast. I picked up on the words ‘new girl’ and ‘smells’ as I walked by and quickly out of the room.

Biology was my next class. I walked in and the only free seat was next to the bronze-haired boy from the cafeteria. I had learned some faces in the class now. Mike. He was a nice guy in my LA and Trig class. Along with Eric. They were both in the biology class with me too. I sighed and walked over sitting down.

‘Oh great. Not him, The creature of night. His heart does not beat and yet here he sits.’ I thought to herself.

He growled to low for a normal human to hear as I sat. I leaned my head on my hand and my elbow on the table so the back of my head was facing him. I doodled on my sketch book of a guitar. I could feel his eyes looking over my shoulder. His eyes as black as night and he was keeping a good distance from me.

‘God he is gorgeous….wait! What am I thinking?!’ I tried to shake the thought from my head.

He clenched the desk. I stood after class but he was the first out.

The next few days past with no complications. I learned the other fours names. There was Rosalie the tall girl, Alice the short hair girl, Emmett the muscular one, and Jasper the more tall boy. Then there was Edward, the one who made my heart race when near me.

But it was weird the past few days Edward wasn’t at school. I automatically thought he knew that I know his secret. I thought about going to talk to his family about it but decided to visit an old friend in town. I skipped my last two classes and drove to the hospital.

“Is Dr. Cullen in?” I asked the receptionist

“Yes. He’s on break in the lounge. Down the hall the door at the very end dear” she said smiling.

I went down the hall and cracked the door. I saw Carlisle sitting alone at the table reading. As the door cracked he looked at me.

“May I help you miss?” He asked in a polite voice putting the book down

I stepped in and smiled. “Hello. You haven’t changed at all for eight years that have past” I said

He looked at me indifferent then he got a look in his eye and smiled brightly. “Alexandria Falls is that you?” He stood and gave me a hug. “I should have recognized that smell. What brings you to Forks? How’s your old man?” He pummeled me with questions.

I smiled sadly. “my mum and dad are gone.” I said

A look of shock struck his face. “I--I’m sorry Alex”

“Its okay…So anyways how are you and Esme?” I asked changing the grim subject.

“We’re great…” He seemed to still be shocked at the fact his best friend had died. “So. How’d you know I was here?”

“I met your son. Edward. I recognized the name ‘Cullen’ and knew you were a doctor so I came here.” she shrugged

“Ah…so you’re the new girl he was talking about.”

“Yes and I was wondering…” I started fidgeting with my shirt, looking down.

“Where he went?” He finished my sentence.

“Yeah.” I answered quietly

“Well Hun…He’s been staying at home for the last few days.”

“Did I do something wrong?” I asked looking back up at him.

“Oh no no no. He’s just…Oh how should I put it…Attracted to your smell. He cant read you as well as everyone else. He came home angry and grumbling about how good the new girl smelt. Then something about the men at school. Something like that.” He chuckled. “He’ll come around. Don’t worry. He’s actually very nice.”

“I figured if he lives with you.” I smiled. “Could you tell him that I’m sorry from me” I asked

“But you didn’t--” He started but I cut him off.

“I know but I would feel better if I did. So please Carlisle.” I pleaded.

He nodded smiling. “I’ll get him the message.”

“Thanks…Carlisle do you think my mom and dad died in the car accident?”

The mood suddenly took a drastic turn. Carlisle had the most serious look on his face. He put his cold hands on my shoulders and shook his head.

“No. I don’t think they did Hun.” He answered and my head dropped to look at the floor. I could see my hands shaking
