EVERYONE, SCAMPER TO YOUR LIBRARY (or even better--bookstore) TO READ THIS EXCELLENT BOOK: The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer. Amazing amazing amazing. It's a science fiction novel, but I would definitely recommend it to those who don't like science fiction, since it's... kind of sci-fi, but also kind of not. Well-developed plot and setting, excellent writing, and the most memorable characters you'll ever read about--Nancy Farmer is an absolute genius. I think I liked it even better than Peeps. XD So, anyone who liked Peeps, you better heed my word and read The House of the Scorpion.
What are you doing still here?? GO GO GO GO GO!!! NOW!!!! *eville glint*
AND ONCE MORE: ANANSI BOYS!
...by Neil Gaiman. Go read it. Now. :3
Umm... but I have a lot of books and plays stacked up to read, so... *scuttles off*
Been reading the Twilight Series lately. *A* I was absolutely hooked.... I finished all three books in about a week and a half. But now... I'm kinda stuck for what to read. T_T Mainly because I have so much homework, I haven't the time to read....and because I haven't gone to the library for such a long time...also because of school. *cries*
And Squid: NOW RUN TO THE LIBRARY TO READ EVERYTHING ELSE BY SCOTT WESTERFELD. And while you're at it, you might as well read James Patterson. And give Stephenie Meyers another shot. She's very good. :D
Peeps by Scott Westerfield. MXSkai was right. It's one heck of a book. Unfortunately, I keep getting sucked into it and looking up an hour later....
The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. It's good, although more like fantasy than science-fiction...
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. I was really surprised to find out that Holmes frequently used opium. (<.<)
BOOK OF THE WEEK IS HERE!
This week's book of the week is Peeps by Scott Westerfeld
It was nominated by MXSkai. MXSkai says about the book: "Peeps is a science fiction novel by Scott Westerfeld about vampires. However, they're not technically vampires--only victims of a disease. Or, a parasite, depending on how you look at it. That's why they're called "parasite-positive" or "peeps" for short. The main character, Cal, a carrier of the parasite, has infected all of his previous girlfriends. Currently, they're pretty much all sunlight-hating, insane, cannibalistic freaks with thousands of pet rats. Yep, kinda weird, but really good. It's also so well-written and well-researched, you feel as if this could really happen. For a while, I was really paranoid... XD But anyway, excellent book, and probably one of my favorites of all time." MXSkai recommends this book for around 13+ years.
[if you have any suggestions, PM me with the author, title, and a short description of what the book(s) is(are) about, and whether it is a Novel, Manga, or Series. NearlyMello hosted a poll to decide if the Book of the Week should be divided into categories and the results concluded that we will now have Books of the week divided by type. I will start it next Monday. To do this though, I need more suggestions. Please PM me, or post a bulletin, saying what you recommend and the info above. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you suggestions.]
