The end of the adventure is at hand for Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, three schoolgirls from Tokyo who were transported to the magical realm of Cephiro to become the Magic Knights. They have unlocked their magic, powered up their weapons, and defeated Zagato's minions. But one test remains before they can confront the sinister Zagato himself, and release the imprisoned Princess Emeraude. They must don the three Mashin -- powerful spirits that can only be wielded by Magic Knights. With the girls' magic fully charged, the final battle begins!
Hikaru
She is the Magic Knight of Fire ... which matches her personality and temper. A prodigy with a sword, she sparred and defeated her father while still a young child. She may be curt, but she is honest and caring. And she has the ability to see through other's exteriors and understand their true character. But while this seems like a strength, her friends worry that she extends herself for others too much, and in the process ends up getting hurt.
Umi
The only child of a wealthy family, she is the complainer of the Rayearth bunch. Quite the opposite of Hikaru's bubbliness, Umi whines constantly, and always strives to be the center of attention. Of course, some might just say she's just assertive. Regardless, she cares for all of her companions deep-down, even Mokona whom she chases endlessly.
Fuu
The brainy and reserved one, Fuu is also the strategist of the magical trio. She is an engineering major at her school and puts her methodical thought processes to good use in their adventures. Always calm and pleasant, she provides the voice of reason to the extremes of Umi and Hikaru. She wields a bow and arrow.
Mokona
"Puu!" is the only thing the knights' mascot can actually say. It shows only extremes of happiness and sadness, but for the most part hops around in blissful ignorance. Mokona - fuzzy and rabbit-like - has some strange abilities ... like being able to keep impossibly odd and outsized objects in the gem on its forehead. And it's possible Mokona can do much more ...
Emeraude
Though she looks like a little girl, Emeraude is an ancient being whose prayers are "the Pillar that supports Cephiro." The land of Cephiro suffers the same turmoil as Emeraude, and it land prospers when she is well. It is Emeraude who calls the trio of high school girls, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, to Cephiro to defeat the many dangers across the land.
What is 'CLAMP'?
CLAMP is the four-woman manga studio that creates the world's most popular manga. For the past 15 years they have worked non-stop, creating everything from the adorable shojo (girls comic) hit Cardcaptor Sakura, to the dark and brooding Tokyo Babylon, to the sci-fi romantic comedy Chobits. Currently they are working on four series: Legal Drug, X, Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicle and xxxHolic. The group also has a close relationship with anime studio Madhouse, which has adapted most of CLAMP's manga into equally successful anime.
2004 marks the team's 15th anniversary, and to celebrate they are working on a retrospective collection called CLAMP no Kiseki, available from TOKYOPOP in 2005.
