The intergalactic battle for freedom continues as Heero is thrown back into battle after crashing his Gundam unit. Heero, still injured from his last battle, is pitted against Zechs Merquise, a fierce new opponent. But when Relena goes to the battlefield to support Heero, she learns the chilling truth that Zechs is really her brother. More action-filled Gundam action than you can shake a stick at.
Heero Yuy (Gundam Wing)
He is as much a machine of destruction as his Gundam. He will fight anyone who becomes an obstacle to his mission, and his single-mindedness makes him the optimum pilot for Wing Gundam Zero, and the only one who can control its Zero System. Having been raised as the perfect killing machine, only the compassion shown him by Relena Darlian allows him to slowly uncover his humanity.
Duo Maxwell (Gundam Wing)
Though he pilots the god of death, Gundam Deathscythe, Duo is the most outgoing and happy-go-lucky of the Gundam pilots. Prior to Operation M, Duo was part of the space-going salvage organization known as the Sweeper Group. And the family life that he enjoyed there carries over into love for his comrades.
Trowa Barton (Gundam Wing)
He is the most mysterious of the Gundam pilots. Calm, cool, and detached, he makes Heero seem like a socialite. Trowa is a gifted and fearless acrobat, and these abilities also prove useful as a Gundam pilot. On the battlefield he uses simple but brutal tactics with his Gundam Heavyarms - laying waste to the battlefield with a constant hail of Gatling gun fire.
Quatre Raberba Winner (Gundam Wing)
Quatre is the most compassionate of the Gundam pilots and comes from a wealthy family. While he lacks the fighting prowess and ruthlessness of his comrades, his gentle personality wins considerable loyalty from his friends. He eventually becomes the leader of the Gundam pilots in their war against OZ.
Chang Wufei (Gundam Wing)
He is the most proud and honor-driven of the pilots. The offspring of a legendary warrior clan, Wufei adheres to a strict warrior code. Like Heero and Trowa, he is at heart a loner, but unlike them, he has no desire to change. With the Shenlong Gundam, his only desire is to find honor through battle, even if he is to die doing so.
Relena Darlian (Gundam Wing)
She grew up without knowing her identity as the daughter of King Peacecraft of the Sanc Kingdom. Her world is turned upside down by the arrival of Heero Yuy and the war that arrives in his wake. And with the death of her adopted father, Relena discovers the truth of her ancestry and becomes the voice for peace in a genocidal war.
Zechs Merquise (Gundam Wing)
The mysterious pilot of Gundam Epyon, he is Heero Yuy's greatest rival. He was an ace Mobile Suit pilot of the Alliance's elite Specials force and the trusted friend of OZ's leader Treize, but hides the secret that he is actually the son of Milliardo Peacecraft, heir to the Sanc Kingdom and Relena's brother. Trained as a warrior, he feels he is unworthy of following his father's pacifist path.
Odel Bernett (Last Outpost)
The older of the Bernett brothers, Odel is the top MS pilot at MO-V. He is distrustful of the OZ delegates who come to his home, and is later shot down by the renegade OZ pilots who call themselves the Stardust Knights. Soon after, a mysterious masked pilot who bears a striking resemblance to Odel joins the Stardust KnightS ...
Odin Bernett (The Last Outpost)
The younger Bernett brother, Odin is frustrated at living in the shadow of his brother. Impulsive and brash, Odin hasn't been able to master the self-control needed to fully take advantage of the new G-Unit and its PX system, but he's still an ace pilot. When his brother goes missing, he is forced to take on the mantle of MO-V's defender, whether he's ready or not. After hearing about the five Gundam pilots on Earth, he names the G-Units Gundams, and continues the battle for peace in the far reaches of explored space.
Lucille Aisley (The Last Outpost)
Lucille is the lead programmer at MO-V, and her computer skills are invaluable in the development of the new G-Units. She's also Odin's girlfriend, although it's hard to tell since they are always bickering.
Dr. Berg (The Last Outpost)
The inventor of the G-Units, Dr. Berg is a brilliant scientist, but when the lines are drawn, his allegiance is to his work, and not to his comrades of MO-V.
Dick Hidasaki (The Last Outpost)
Chief Mechanic on MO-V, Dick can usually be found in the hangar with Lucille working on the G-Units.
The Stardust Knights (The Last Outpost)
Roche Nattano, Kratz Silvy and Broom Brooks were members of OZ's elite. Born to aristocracy, they didn't agree with the ideals of Zechs Merquise, so they left the Earth Sphere to live a life of battle dictated not by ideals, but by a corrupt code of honor. They descend on the unsuspecting people of MO-V to steal the new G-Unit and kill the inhabitants for their pleasure.
Yoshiyuki Tomino & Hajime Yadate
Tomino and Yadate were the creators of the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam television series. Though it was received poorly during its original run, Gundam has gone on to revolutionize the giant robot anime genre in Japan and over the past 20 years has significantly altered the anime and manga landscape.
Based on the work of Gerard O'Neill, the Gundam world depicted an Earth where, due to overcrowding, much of the planet's citizens live on orbiting colonies. And in a struggle for the right to rule Earth itself, the colonies and Earth became embroiled in a bitter civil war. Unlike much of the giant robot anime of the time - which featured good robot vs. evil robot week-in, week-out, ad nauseam - Mobile Suit Gundam dealt with the atrocities of war, the ambiguity of heroes and villains, and the gray area between honor and brutality.
Tomino is known as the father of the series, and he has revisited it several times in film, television, and most recently with For the Barrel, the revisionist Gundam novels that are currently being serialized in NewType Magazine. He and Yadate - who is also famed for his part in the creation of such programs as Escaflowne, Gasaraki, and Cowboy Bebop - are forever credited with the creation of Gundam, in spite of its many subsequent incarnations.
