It's tough being Nokoru Imonoyama, the smartest kid at a school for geniuses. There's not a lot that can stimulate his mind. So what does he do? Start a detective agency and help damsels in distress! Nokoru's partners are his two best friends: Suoh Takamura, a master in all martial arts, and Akira Ijyuin, detective by day, thief by night. They also run the Student Body, although lately Nokoru's been more interested in altering the meeting room's climate control and turning it into an Arctic playground or tropical paradise. And when Nokoru's not trying to replace himself with a robot to get out of his paperwork, they're searching for the owner a lost silk stocking (obviously a damsel of the highest class), investigating an elaborate surveillance system, and recalling the time they escaped from a clan of deadly ninjas.

Nokoru Imonoyama
A 6th grader and Elementary School Board Chairman, Nokoru is also the youngest son of the Clamp School's founders -- the Imonoyama zaibatsu. An uber-genius, he not only has the top IQ of any student in a school of geniuses, he's also smarter than any of the teachers. He has the unique ability to detect a woman in distress from 2 kilometers away, and so, in order to help those ladies, he created the Clamp School Detective agency with two of his most gifted peers.

Suoh Takamura
A 5th grader and Elementary School Board Secretary, Suoh is a martial arts prodigy, with a 3rd degree black belt in Judo, Aikido, Karate and Kendo. (He would have gone higher, but he ran out of competition). He is also trained in various guerilla combat tactics.

Akira Ijyuin
A 4th grader and Elementary School Board Treasurer, Akira has a double life as the notorious thief 20-Faces. He's a bit naive compared to the other two members of the group, but his positive spirit and determination make him a valuable team player. He's also a remarkable chef. He's currently 'going steady' with the chairman of the kindergarten class.

What is 'CLAMP'?

CLAMP is the four-woman manga studio that creates the world's most popular manga. For the past 15 years they have worked non-stop, creating everything from the adorable shojo (girls comic) hit Cardcaptor Sakura, to the dark and brooding Tokyo Babylon, to the sci-fi romantic comedy Chobits. Currently they are working on four series: Legal Drug, X, Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicle and xxxHolic. The group also has a close relationship with anime studio Madhouse, which has adapted most of CLAMP's manga into equally successful anime.

2004 marks the team's 15th anniversary, and to celebrate they are working on a retrospective collection called CLAMP no Kiseki, available from TOKYOPOP in 2005.
