Glowing review of The Opera House Murders from iComics -- read it all here.
Hajime Kindaichi is a teenaged crime solver who's part Sherlock Holmes, part Encyclopedia Brown, part Scooby Doo.
Originally published in Japan's Weekly Shounen Magazine as Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo, this popular long-running manga has spawned an anime TV series, as well as several animated feature-length films.
In their original tankoubon (graphic novel) form, as published by Kodansha in Japan, the individual Kindaichi 'cases' often spanned several volumes; TOKYOPOP® will present each volume of Kindaichi as a self-contained 'case' which will begin and end in the same book. 'Cases' are not necessarily related to previous narratives - so, our books can be read in any order.
Kindaichi (frequently with best-bud, Miyuki) travels to various places where a murder has taken place, typically involving ghosts, curses, myths and folklore of significant
events from the distant past, and solves the mystery using ingenious deductions of curious clues and his cool magic.
Satoh Fumiya - Illustrator
Kanari Yozaburo - Writer
Satoh Fumiya is also the author of a manga series called Tantei Gakuen Q.
Kanari Yozaburo has written the manga series, Minzoku Gakusha Yakumo Tengu Densetsu Satsujin-jiken, which was serialized in the Japanese periodical, Young Jump.
Hajime Kindaichi
Although this 17-year-old high school junior has an IQ of 180, Hajime's slacker attitude has earned him a reputation as poor student and something of a troublemaker. But he's actually a brilliant amateur detective, who uses his uncanny powers of observation and deduction to solve even the most unusual of cases. Hajime is the grandson of Kousuke Kindaichi, a celebrated detective in his own right.
Miyuki Nanase
Also a 17-year-old high school junior. She has been friends with Hajime since childhood. Unlike Hajime, she is a popular, straight-A student. And, unbeknownst to her, she is also Hajime's love interest.
Isamu Kenmochi
A police inspector who is an occasional partner of Hajime.
Kengo Akechi
An extremely smart police superintendent who enjoys a competitive friendship with Kindaichi.
Yay! Another volume!!! This has to be my absolute favorite manga from Tokyopop & is quite possibly my overall favorite in my collection.
