Kingdom Hearts - based on the mind-alteringly popular Square/Disney videogame - is the story of Sora, a 14-year-old boy whose world is shattered when a violent storm hits his island-paradise home, and he's separated from his two closest friends, Riku, a 15-year-old boy, and Kairi, a 14-year-old girl.
At the same time, there's turmoil in Disney Castle. King Mickey is missing, and Court Wizard Donald and Captain Goofy set out to find him. On their travels they meet Sora, on his own search for his lost friends.
Kingdom Hearts has entranced millions around the world with its unique combination of classic Disney storytelling and characters coupled with cutting-edge gameplay and innovative character designs from Square Enix, the creators of such mega-hits as Final Fantasy. The TOKYOPOP manga version of Kingdom Hearts takes this partnership to a new level by adding yet another element to an already rich tapestry.
Sora
A 14 year-old boy, who has his share of concerns, but still manages to keep an upbeat attitude. He seems naive at times, but he has a strong sense of right and wrong. For reasons he has yet to understand, Sora has been entrusted with the mystical "Keyblade."
Riku
15 years-old and Sora's best friend. Although he has a cool and calm exterior, he's far from the quiet type. Ever the curious one, Riku has begun to question the small world he and his two friends inhabit.
Kairi
A 14 year-old girl who arrived at the island a few years ago. She appears small and fragile, but she possesses a strong and unyielding will.
Donald Duck
Court Wizard and the King's most loyal servant. He embarks on an incredible journey at the missing King's request.
Goofy
Another of the King's loyal subjects, Goofy accompanies Donald on his perilous mission. Easy-going and often clumsy, he has an endearing charm that evokes a smile even at the worst of times.
The Heartless
Creatures without hearts, who appear out of nowhere and disapear back into the darkness. Their origins are shrouded in mystery, but it is known that they feed off of the darkness within peoples' hearts.
