Meet Armand Jones—a typical boy from small-town U.S.A. Doesn't like his teachers. Doesn't like homework. Can't stand the bullies constantly harassing him on the bus every day. But what he really won't like is getting Zapt! Armand is about to be inducted into the ranks of the Pan-Galactic Order of Police, where, like it or not, he'll have to save alien races and outwit marauding space pirates! And he'll still have to be home in time for dinner. Being a kid is about to get a lot harder!

Armand Jones: Our hero. Most kids wait 'til they reach puberty to become this surly. Armand is way ahead of the curve. Living in small-town Michigan isn't his idea of fun, either. Armand would much rather spend his days skateboarding in sunny Florida or California. And the local bullies constantly tossing his homework—and sometimes Armand himself—into the trashcans at school doesn't exactly lighten his disposition. Luckily, Armand's got his buddy Nigel to hang with. Plus, the new girl in school is kinda cool—albeit a little ditzy.

Payleen the Brave: Okay, so he added the "brave" on there, but what else would you call it if you were the only one on your planet to go against the grain? Payleen comes from a race with a permanent bad attitude and a penchant for galaxy conquering. The fact that he chose to be a hero is a black mark as far as his race is concerned. Armand will certainly gain an appreciation for this slightly annoying alien with a heart of gold.

Gladys Aguilar: She's a nerdy girl and the only person that believes Armand's ridiculous stories. She believes for a good reason...she's an alien princess from Vyrimion Nine...and a P.O.O.P. backup Op by way of the witness protection program. Ooh Boy! She's necessary to Gongar's plans, and he'll do what it takes to get her.

Nigel Rapmund: Armand's best bud at school back on Earth. Armand thinks he might be even more of a pessimist than he is, but Nigel simply sees himself as a realist. Stuck at school while Armand has his adventures, he'll be hard-pressed to believe any of it, but he still likes Armand anyway.

Thadeus Todd Muk Walaku: The Nemesis. A Davarnian (think Mr. Spock without the charm) and former P.O.O.P. Op. He used to be the best of the best, but his ethics and ripe old age (17) forced him into early retirement. Now he's going to make the council pay for ever doubting him. Thadeus is bitter and looking for payback, and Grongar just might be the answer he's looking for.

Gongar the Peeved: This guy makes Ghengis Khan look tame. Gongar has set his sights on Vyrimion Nine, and some ball of rock

Shannon Eric Denton, co-writer: Shannon is a veteran storyteller and artist who has worked extensively in both the comic book and the animated series mediums for companies like Marvel, DC, Image, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon.

Keith Giffen, co-writer: An Eisner Award-winning writer, Keith is the creator of DC's Lobo character. In addition to working with other major comic publishing companies, Keith is also the author of TOKYOPOP'S I Luv Halloween.

Armand Villavert Jr., artist: Armand's artistic influences include Hayao Miyazaki, Frank Cho, and Joe Madureira. Armand is currently hard at work on realizing the world of Zapt!

Writers Shannon Denton and Keith Giffen, along with talented young artist Armand Villavert Jr. have created a manga series that has become very dear to my heart. As a kid from a small town weaned on Star Wars and comic books, I was constantly daydreaming of somehow being pulled away from the tedium of school and chores and being drawn into a fantastic world of never-ending adventure. For any kid, young or old, who may have indulged in similar fantasies, who whiled away afternoons watching Starblazers or Power Rangers, who always had a comic tucked away in his book bag...this book is for you.

Join 12-year-old Armand Jones as he is unexpectedly catapulted into interstellar adventure and intrigue! Prepare to be Zapt!
