“Think Evangelion without the giant robots and a bunch of emo kids.” – IGN.com
Yuuichi Tate is ecstatic to go to a brand-new high school... until he finds out that Fuuka Academy is under frequent attack by strange creatures called Orphans. The school sets up a special task force of its female members called HiMEs, who use various elements as their powers, to battle these invaders!
Mai Tokiha:
A HiME at Fuka Academy, whose rival is fellow HiME, Natsuki Kuga. HiME stands for HIghly-advanced Materializing Equipment--they are people who have the ability to control certain powerful elements. Turns out that Mai and Natsuki both have to share Yuuichi as their "key."
Natsuki Kuga:
Mai's number one rival HiME at Fuka Academy, who shares Yuuichi as her "key." With the help of their selected key, a HiME can unleash their "child," a powerful fighting creature that the HiME controls.
Yuuichi Tate:
A new transfer student to Fuka Academy, who finds himself in the position of being a "key" to not one, but two, HiMEs. A "Key" is a person who acts as a sort of partner, or power-booster, to a HiME.
Meet Yuuichi Tate, the new boy at Fuka Academy. Up until now Yuuichi has attended an all-boys school, so he’s thrilled to finally be going co-ed. If only he knew what he was getting himself into. At first look Fuka Academy may look like a typical high school, but appearances can be deceiving – this new school is far from normal. Not only is the school constantly under attack by strange creatures called Orphans; a special task force of its female student body defends the school. Meet the HiMEs! These girls walk softly but carry very powerful metaphysical weapons.
Here’s where things get interesting. Although HiMEs individually are a force to be reckoned with, in order to battle Orphans, they must team up with other students known as Keys. A Key can unlock a HiMEs true potential and ultimate power. Yuuichi-kun must be the luckiest guy in the world as he finds out on his second day of school that he is a Key for not just one, but two of the most powerful HiMEs at Fuka Academy. Sounds like fun right? Not when dealing with two of the most competitive girls at school.
My-HiME is the hot new manga based on the fan-favorite anime from Hajime Yatate, the creative team behind Cowboy Bebop, Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunso), and Witch Hunter Robin. If you’re into explosive action, epic battles, love triangles, and FANSERVICE then look no further.

I loved the anime, when I read the manga, it surprised me, in a good way, I liked it, and I enjoyed it. Both the anime and the manga, the manga kinda creeped me out a bit at the end of volume 1
