Beware of Aliens Bearing Gifts...
Pre-law student Samantha Beagley's life has always followed a certain path: the one she planned. However, on her 18th birthday, the arrival of a very special present brings with it a whole galaxy full of weird, wild people, places and things! Suddenly, this control freak finds herself on the run from the intergalactic feds on a desperately hilarious quest to find a stolen treasure—and prevent the Earth's destruction!
Kayley Barnes
Kayley is Sam’s 18-year-old roommate and college friend. Kayley is quite advanced for her years and more about fun and more comfortable with her sexuality than most girls her age. She has always eyed Sam’s boyfriend, and often walks a fine line with subtle and not-so-subtle flirtation.
Halo
Halo is a 15-year-old alien Star Skipper who would love to trek through the galaxy on adventures of his own. He feels that he is more man than boy, and resents that his parents only see him as a Star Skipper-in-training and keep him closely supervised. Even still, when the opportunity presents itself, he will hotwire a starship or steal the Skipper his parents have locked up, and take off to where the action is.
Samantha Beagley
Samantha is a by-the-book pre-law student whose life is ruled by a long-term plan and her electronic organizer. The only child of the Beagleys, Sam always had a strong sense of right and wrong and so applied to pre-law for her first year of college. She is a sensible girl who has always led a sensible life and followed a certain plan. That plan is about to change in a very big way.
Zohra and Martin Beagley
Zohra and Martin are Sam's parents. Their many eccentricities include the fact that these two are very rarely upset--everything tends to be either okay or fantastic.
Charlie Finn
Sam’s boyfriend Charlie is twenty years old and has a similar life plan to Sam, which is why they mesh so well. He knows that he wants to join the police force when he graduates like his father did and his father before him. The other thing that he is sure about in his life plan is his feelings for Sam. Charlie's plan is about to encounter an enormous bump in the road.
Jackal
Jackal stands only nearly two feet off the ground but has the fight in him to make any thief leery of crossing his path. A career criminal, even the Beagleys know Jackal’s not always to be trusted. Double-dealing is nothing personal to Jackal, it's just that a life of crime comes before his life of friends.
Salanus
The hulking sergeant at arms of the Galactic Order Directorate, Salanus is a regimented and unemotional alien. He has little time for anything except the pursuit of justice and the orders that are passed down to him. The majority of the Disciples of the one true Galactic Order Directorate are a boring lot. Their single-minded view of what is right never makes for the best dinner party conversation, even at really lame dinner parties.
Tricia Riley Hale
Growing up in Texas, writer Tricia Riley Hale’s goal in life was to become a veterinarian. Thoughts of surgery turned to the entertainment business when she realized the loss of a four-legged patient could be more than she could bear.
Soon after moving to California she landed her first job in the comic industry working as a freelance color stylist on The Uncanny X-Men. She also worked on such titles as The Incredible Hulk, The Amazing Spider-Man, Astro City and many others. Tricia has worked with digital coloring pioneers Electric Crayon and Mad Science Media.
Her work as a colorist led to a career in animation where she worked as a digital background painter and visual effects artist. Sony Pictures, Stan Lee Media and Disney are a few of the studios where she has worked on such projects as Godzilla, Dilbert, Piglet’s Big Movie, Lion King 1.5, and Kim Possible. She has recently branched out into writing. Tricia wrote and voice directed Epic Galactic, a 3-D animated project currently in production. She also has two graphic novel creations in the works. Tricia Hale also appears in Adventures Into Digital Comics.
Jim Roy N. Jiminez
Jim is a native of the Philippines who—in the hours he’s not working as a successful graphic artist—is also the drummer for the J Brothers Band, a hot Manila rock group he shares with his two brothers Jay and Joy. Check out their sound at the J Brothers page on MySpace
Sam’s life has always followed a certain course, namely the one she planned. However, on her 18th birthday, she finds out that her parents are not from Earth and they're actually renowned intergalactic thieves.
Once her family’s true origin is revealed, Sam is whisked away from the planet to escape the galactic law enforcers who intend to blow up the Earth. Since Sam’s parents, Martin and Zohra, are no help in finding what she needs to stop them—the Evolutionary Cube—she embarks upon a journey of her own and decides to enlist the help of the notorious Jackal.
Sam soon finds herself meeting nefarious characters on cutthroat planets as she sets off on her new life of crime.
