want, want!, WANT!!!! must go to book store...
lol i luv lolita
Can you subscribe to it? I'd like that better:)
I'm so excited they're doing an English version, the clothes in these are fantastic, I'v been buying the Japanese version for years.
I LOVE THIS MAG! Now I can finally read one in one day rather then buy the Japanese ones where it takes me three! :P Love Gothi/Loli style!!
I'm really happy that it showed girls from Oregon! I live in WA so it's close enough for me to be excited about. Maybe I can get WA into a later issue? I almost cried when I saw Mana. He is LOVE.
I am so excited, I love how its more of a U.S. version instead of just a translation of the pre-existing magazine, whoot for east meets west!
i want to get this sooo badly! T.T but my mom would kill me, just becuz it has the word 'Gothic" in it. T_T *tears fall and dampen my shirt*
frak! i jus went 2 barnes n nobles recently n 4got 2 get it! frak! *tantrum, cuts-sorry rly doesnt-, screams*
I want it
luv this mook!!!!!!
This mook was pretty cool to flip through, but it really irritated me with all of the grammatical and spelling errors. Next time, use spell check before you print a mook.
i want to get it
Does anyone know where we send our own lolita pictures to get them into the magazine? I know that before volume 1 came out, they were asking for photos, and I never sent mine... Now I can't find article or whatever where they said where to send them.
I know you can get it at Borders in the graphic novel section
I know you can get it at Borders in the graphic novel section
I know you can get them at Borders book store in the graphic novel section
They should offer a subscription for this, otherwise I don't think i'll be able to get it. Seriously, if there's going to be more issues, then we really should be able to obtain them through mail without having to order every issue. (Of course, ordering them from Amazon would boost credit, but that's beside the point) Some of us, losers as we may be, don't have the internet at home so it's very difficult to do so.
where can u buy this at? borders?? barnes and noble?? neone know??
I love this magazine. I went and bought it as soon as I could. It's great. I'm happy that I can now read the magazine. I like how they give you the templates for some items to make. But it was a b**** to take out without tearing it to shreads. But after about 5 - minutes and a craft knife I got it out with only two spots that got a little cut in the middle.
It's very nice. Most of the material is from previous loli bibles so if you've been looking at the older issues you can finaly read the content. But The content is older like from 2005. You can definatly tell the original us material from the original japanese material. the original articles are put on a sold color background and have pictures haphazzardly pasted across the page. But besides that I enjoyed the actual content of the articles. All in all it's a good investment and hey if enough ppl buy they might be able to hire a better person for the cover and teh layout of the mag! ha!
Zomg! I just bought a copy today, and I love it! The photographs are amazing, and I love that there are patterns included. I can't wait until the 2nd one.
I am soo happy it is finally brought to the states!..yet I am worried that theymight mess up a few things and translation might be off..but all in all...it looks safe!^O^
While the content may be good ( I am unsure yet since I am not getting my copy til this weekend's anime convention) It still does not excuse that the graphic design for the cover is terrible. I'm glad that they considered translating it, but what's the point of changing the content. People who originally collected them aren't interested in something Japanese that's been americanized, the sole purpose for our unhealthy obsession with EGL and Japanese culture makes us want the original with it's original content. It's like reading a summarized manga with a lot of interesting parts cut out. The fact that they condensed the first 4 volumes into this one and added manga skits to it, just makes it seem like an expensive ShoujoBeat with less manga in it. I don't understand why they would make such drastic changes. Albeit I am glad that a lot of people like it, we need more american fans of GL and I totally support the noobs (we all start somewhere), but it's deceiving for those of us that have been following up on it for a large part of our lives, and I know I'm not the only one who thinks so.
wow a lot of mixed reviews, I'm glad to say I've never read or seen the japanese version so I ADORE my english gothic & lolita bible! I've gotten a lot of my friends to go out to get a copy too. But I think it's wonderful, and so what if it can't compare to the original, we're in two different culturas and they are trying their best to make it as relevant to us as they can, I really persoanlly appriciate all the effort and hard work they're putting into this to try and give us what we want.
As an avid collector of Gothic & Lolita bibles I'm so incredibly disappointed at how poor the graphics layout for the cover is. Hopefully it's looks are deceiving because if the content is not outstanding then I don't think I would even pay for it I'd rather continue to collect them in Japanese. Tis a sad day for the person who hired the artist to design that cover... truly disappointing
i can't wait to get one
I'm so excited to see a picture of my friends in this magazine~!
YAY!!! They left Mana-sama in it!!!
yes it would actally... go to b&n they have it x3
does anyone know where i can buy it? would it be at b&n?
Hmmm, why is it that light novels require more translations but cost less in America than Japan & mangas & magazines require less translating but cost more in America than Japan? I can pick up all the GLBs for $15 apiece at Kinokuniya.
I am having such a hard time finding this in Ontario! I checked the directory of ALL the Chapters/Indigos/Coles/Smith Books in Toronto and no one has it >.< has any1 in Toronto found a copy?
I got mine, its really really kool
All in all, When I looked over it, It was good. The only thing that made me sad was the pictures of the clothes from the different brands, oh i wish it was like a regular magazine with prices and where to get them TToTT Even though there are ways of getting these items, I just really wish, they were more available to the American public TToTT
I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!!!! I have the premium 1st edition in Japanese but...! It's being released in ENGLISH!?? I'm sorry for all the other manga I want to get... but this comes top of the list for deffinate!!!
i am so excited to get my copy X3
would this be found in the manga section or the magazine section of the bookstore?
the american version still has patterns, right? this is soo awesome, I can't wait!! XD
omg where can i get this?!
I really want one now! I can't wait for the 18.
i want one now!
i want it. D;
Just call it the most awesomething that ever hit the shelves and we're all good! ^_^
hmm i need to see if i should buy it, usually when america translates manga they change some words thinking it's "bad" for readers :/
omg yay this is so cool. every time i look up lolita they talk abou the gothic lolita bible, this is amazing. im so psyched especially because there is no way i could ever read the japanesse version ^_^
that's soooooooo cool
Anyone interested in the Gothic Lolita culture, you have GOT to get this!! It has articles about the history, offers patterns for dresses, interviews mangakas and so much more! The art is amazing!! You can't go wrong!! :)
I know nothing about goth or lolita, but I'm perfectly willing to learn! This looks pretty cool.
I absolutely can't wait to get a copy!
cool cover awesome colors
Mana Strikes Again... I'll buy it anyway. I know the text is gonna suck but at least I get my Loli look inspiration.
CHROMEHEARTXIV: Looks like America strikes again! Dx
finally it comes out
Ok. I just got this yesterday.....and it is REALLY disappointing. It comes across like a cheap ripoff of the original, all the captions are dumbed down for the younger readers, and the last thirty or so pages are occupied with terrible not-quite-comics and the worst excuse for a goth-loli manga short that I have ever read.
I can't wait to own this! A friend of mine has several of these in Japanese and when he showed them to me, I nearly fainted!
Interesting. I'm broke, and I'm not sure if I can afford $20, but I'll head over to a bookstore and see if it's worth buying.
I am excited to see this.
I bought this yesterday, and I have no qualms about it, except for that girl on page 10. 'Oh hay, I'm going to use a lot of big words to make myself seem real sophisticated and fancy, because obviously using big words makes me better than other people!' and on top of that, in her attempt to sound all fancy, SHE MISUSED A WORD. She says the word quixotic, using it as a synonym for 'different' or 'strange', BUT THATS NOT WHAT THE WORD MEANS. Quixotic means flamboyant, and pertaining to the book character Don Quixote. It can also refer to someone who can't tell the difference between reality and a hallucination. Seriously, using big words doesn't make you more Lolita or a more interesting person.
Omigod, you have no idea how much I'm looking forward to this. I just hope the english version meets expectations.
When I read that this was coming out in Cosmo girl I almost freaked out and screamed. I am so excited
Oh, I hope this has pretty pictures!
Oh! I own a copy of this in Japanese! ^^ If you're a very big Goth-Loli fan it's definately worth it in my opinion~ Mayb I'll buy the other 6 volumes when they're out in English ^^
Kyaa! Whats the band on the cover?? The one that says "Jrock" by it?? I really want to know!
Ive got the urge to break out in chanting of "GOTH GOTH LOLI LOLI~~~"! *le gasp* Thank you so very much! I have been waiting so long for an english version. This made my day. Will you be shipping it to stores where other tokyopop manga is sold, or just online? I dont buy anything online. Anyways, what will be in this book compared to the japanese version? Please, dont change too much of it. Im always looking for more info on the actual specifics of lolita culture, and id rather not see some heavily modified version, seriously. Cause i will throw a fit if i find anything so heavily adapted its sickening. I really want to see alot of the dresses for inspiration for my own art. The styles are breathtaking. ...haha, will they be talking bout vladimir's "Lolita"? ;D
I can't wait! I hope it will be possible to subscribe to it and have it sent to the house as it is a magazine!
I'm excited for it for my friend. xD She knows and loves all Lolita related things, so I'm she she'll be ecstatic. xD
I can't wait to get this. I'm making a loli-style dress for an up-n-coming convention and I hope that this'll help with some of my details I'm doing.
I'm going to buy it, but I'm not particularly happy about this. Before you know it, we're going to have weaboo anime-otaku pairing cat-ears with Bodyline and thinking its "OMG SO KAWAII GOTHLOLI". Italolitas *shivers* I do have some faith in the editors; they seem to know what they're doing. But its the way the wapanese girlies are going to interpret it that worries me.
I'm going to buy it, but I'm not going to get my hopes up too much. Was is Shoujo Beat that did an "imitate lolita style" thing in conjunction with their interview with Kitade Nana? If I recall rightly, that was kind of...well, pap. Same with the "kimono styled" stuff... I don't think I've seen anything with less resemblance to traditional Japanese clothing than my cat.... By the sounds of it, the patterns are only for accessories of some description, hopefully nice projects there. Maybe in the future we'll get patterns for clothing articles?
Oh please, :))))
oh please, like any of you who say 'omg i love gothic lolita' actaully understand anything about it.
Yes! I've been waiting for this!
A great handbook for any budding loli.
