Welcome to The World, the most advanced online game ever created. In The World you can be anyone you want to be, act out your adventure fantasies and through teamwork and determination, you can even become a hero. 14-year-old twins Shugo and Rena just won a contest that lets them play as the legendary avatars 'Kite' and 'Black Rose.' Armed with the power of the Twilight Bracelet, the two must discover what is causing rogue monsters to infect The World and carry on the legend of the .hackers.
.hack is a multimedia phenomenon unlike any seen before. Released simultaneously in Japan as a series of Playstation 2 games, two different anime shows and a manga series, each piece helps tell the greater story of .hack. The first anime series is seen on Cartoon Network, the first of four Playstation 2 games is a top-seller and now the manga picks up the story with all new characters and adventures.
Original character design for .hack was performed by Sadamoto Yoshiyuki, perhaps best known for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The .hack//Legend of the Twilight manga was originally published in Japan by Kadokawa as .hack//tasogare no udewa densetsu (known more familiarly in the U.S. as .hack//dusk).
Tatsuya Hamazaki is the author of several Gundam manga, as well as the several One Piece novelizations. .hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT marks his first collaboration with artist Rei Izumi.
Rei Izumi is the artist of .hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT, currently serialized in Kadokawa's 'Computeek' magazine.
Shugo
14-year-old Shugo always assumed RPG's were overly complicated games that someone like him could never understand. When his sister invites him to play the mega-popular MMORPG 'The World,' Shugo is instantly hooked. Inside 'The World,' Shugo plays as the avatar 'Kite,' one of the legendary .hackers. After a rough start, he and his sister find themselves on a quest to save 'The World.' As an adventurer Shugo is impulsive and inexperienced, but he makes up for it with his heart.
Rena
Shugo's twin sister, Rena won the 'avatars' of the legendary .hackers which she and her brother now use inside the MMORPG 'The World.' She plays as 'Black Rose,' and unlike her brother, she picks up on the nuances of online gaming pretty quickly.
Just got mine in the mail. Though, I like how it differs from the game. Good stuff. :3
