PILOT SYNOPSIS
Austin Grant’s life is turned upside down when he moves to a new town and takes a job in a local lingerie store. The job is all manner of uncomfortable as the three very sexy sales girls like to try on the merchandise and the gay store manager likes to tag team hit on him with the older and very hot lead sales girl. It also doesn’t help that the resident lesbian on the staff wants him gone and will do anything to get rid of him. Yet, every time he is ready to walk out the door June Russell, the owner’s daughter, turns those big sweet eyes towards him and makes him reconsider. However, even he has his limits, especially when the sales floor begins to call…

Austin Grant:
Austin Grant is overly serious but attractive teenage boy who has moved to a new town and is looking for a part time job. He gets more than he bargains for when he begrudgingly accepts a position as stock boy at the high end lingerie store Silky Pink. If the fact he was surrounded by exciting lingerie wasn’t uncomfortable enough, the staff seem to delight in making his life hell. Then there is June, the owner’s daughter, and her big beautiful sweet eyes…
Factoid: Austin Grant is named for implacable Cary Grant, the original sexy-hijinks leading man.
June Russell:
June Russell is the perky and sweet daughter of the owners of the Silky Pink lingerie store chain. She works every day after school in the original storefront. It is her home and her haven where none of the bullies and uncertainties of life can touch her. As such June loves lingerie and all those that work at Silky Pink. She is overjoyed when Austin joins the staff and eager to welcome him into the fold.
Factoid: June Russell is names for Jane Russell. Apocrypha has it that Howard Hughes invented what is now considered the original design for the modern day bra to better showcase her bosom for his movie The Outlaw.
Melinda “Mel” Hayworth:
College student Melinda Hayworth is not only the leading sales girl for the original location of Silky Pink fine lingerie but one of the most popular catalogue models. She has worked at Silky Pink for years now and knows the owners intimately. She is like a Big sister to June and is also the one that initially found Austin. She is a flirt but far from a push over, as Austin soon finds out.
Factoid: Melinda Hayworth is names for the original silver screen sex symbol (and red head), Rita Hayworth.
Ty Hudson:
Ty Hudson has known the family that owns Silky Pink since he was a boy and despite being independently wealthy works at their original location as store manager. He is the store’s resident big brother and he particularly watches out for the owner’s daughter June. Ty doesn’t hide the fact he is gay and often liked to hit on their new store employee Austin. However, he quickly deduces that Austin is more than just a pretty face.
Factoid: Ty Hudson is named for Rock Hudson, a sex symbol of the sixties who was secretly gay.
Sarah Dietrich:
Sarah Dietrich is a sales girl at Silky Pink and hopelessly in love with June. She is tough and extremely possessive of June. She gets extremely territorial when Austin is hired; fearing that his pretty boy good looks might charm the object of her unrequited love away from her. Thus she is hell bent to make sure Austin goes away, whatever the cost!
Factoid: Sarah Dietrich is name for Marlene Dietrich, an old movie starlet that was rumored to have as many female lovers as male ones.
CREATOR PROFILE
Mara Aum was born in Venezuela, South America but grew up primarily in the Chicago-land area living an unconventional life with unconventional family. She was encouraged to tell stories and draw at an early age creating a near clinically insane overactive imagination and a near manic need to draw that would make Van Gogh proud. She discovered comics and manga in her early teens finding it the perfect union of her two all consuming passions. She even went so far as to mortgage her soul to student loan devils so she could major in Sequential Art at Savannah College of Art & Design, where her "I'll sleep when I'm dead" attitude paid off in her Summa Cum Laude degree.
Mara's work ranges from drawing to inking to toning to coloring. Her work can be seen in Dark Moon Diary, Adventures in Ai Land, Sea Princess Azuri, and a slew of other titles that would make this a very long list. Currently she is the artist on the Adventures of CG! comic strip for CosmoGirl! magazine and TOKYOPOP.
Mara is living in the American Southwest where she draws and writes, continuously feeding her pathological workaholic addiction until the inevitable family intervention in five or 10 years relieves her from this self-inflicted slavery.

it's not bad, the art looks good in general and the story's entertaining enough. personally i wouldn't buy it because i don't really like this kind of plots, i think it's more appealing to a male audience, just by looking at the cover, but i'd say girls'd like it too because of the main character and the whole romantic comedy this manga seems to be.

well this is definently somthing out side of the box. dont take that the wrong way either i love the idea of it definently is creative and goes out of the normal hohum steryotypes we see all the time!the art work is good very good. i would try adding a few more witty comments and such though i absolutly LOVED the part where he walks in and see them trying on the new stalk the hole line of i think we broke him was great!all in all i hope to see this printed this is somthing i would definently look into

I love the plot and wouldn't mind buying it at all! It's interesting and funny ^^ - though I wish it looked a little bit more like manga style art - I dunno, something is just a little off about it and I can't quite put my finger on it. The front cover is beautiful tho!

Well... To be honest, I think that the storyline seems overly rushed, although that might be because it's a pilot. Everything seemed to happen just a little too quickly. Excepting that, however, I think this is really good! ^_^ The art isn't traditional manga style, which I don't normally like, but I do actually think it's cute! I'd totally buy this!

Where to begin? First of all, your characterisation is appalling. There was not a bit of it that was not cliched, two-dimensional and in all ways unoriginal. Why are all the female characters (except the lesbian, which i'll come back to) all pointless, brainless sex symbols who exists solely for Bounce Factor. Rounding off on your female character problem, is Sarah. The main problem being the unfortunate implications of your only lesbian character (and a painfully stereotypical one at that) the villian? Especially as, without your Character Info, you don't actually set up this unrequited love she has for June. Not to mention the fact that Ty is also unbelieveably stereotypical that i actually found this uncomfortable to read (and my friend is a drag queen). This to leads to this conclusion that every character and situation is for the benefit of your main, to live out some sort of fantasy world in which he is a Magical Girl, only male and has Panty Power. Nice work.

I like the concept of the story it's a fish out of water tale basically but it a sexy twist I like to see how this develops. The art is unique though seem a little flat in some areas a little more proportions and it should be okay.

This is crazy (in a good way I suppose). It's not bad and the story does develop and at times can be quite captivating. However, the art isn't exactly perfect yet, with just a bit more practice on proportions and especially the faces. The way you apply tones are okay, but the amount of text on CERTAIN pages get to me.

Silky Pink was silky smooth (cheesy, I know). I thought it was extremely funny and very very well drawn and put together. The pages flowed nicely and the plot development didn't take too long. I chuckled from page one to the very end. I can't wait to read the next chapter(s). Keep up the great work B~>

I loved this! It's a more adult themed manga without being completely sleazy or hentai and there certainly aren't enough of those. I think that with a couple more chapters to flesh out the characters that this story has great potential and I enjoyed the artwork. I would buy this and hope that it does make it store shelves. I think my favorite part was Austin's natural selling technique, it cracked me up. ;)

What an interesting new concept. Something sensual meets the guy TRYING to be innocent. And he finds his new talent for women's undergarments. Highly entertaining. If you want to be funny, embarrassment always works. I want to see more of Austin and the Silky crew.
